Replaced my spark plugs (long overdue) with basic stock ones and put in an AFE pro dry filter and went from 17 mpg to 20 mpg. Pretty sure the spark plugs were most of the increase as I did them a day or two before the filter and saw a nice increase. Anyway, just saying if you are due for this little maintenance don't put it off.:burnrubber:

It's almost 50 degrees right now... It seems to be that it will try to get nice (flirts with hi 40s lo 50s) and then it will snow like 5 inches and be cold for a couple days... Very unstable but trying to get there

How you're running the 2.7 with iridiums cause the coppers in the 4.0 were due at 30k.

    Yes.
I didn't change the plugs in my Corolla until 200K, but that was iridium.

The 4.0 has copper/needs to be changed at 30K? Well, I'm glad everyone at the dealer is a moron... Since they just told me THIS MORNING that they didn't need to be done until 100K.

100K? Why would you wait that long when it takes roughly 1 1/2 hours and twenty bucks or less for the plugs? If you haven't had an extra 1 1/2 of time and twenty bucks in 100K miles I would hate to have your job man!! The MPG you have lost over time would be well over the twenty bucks for plugs IMO.

I would change those suckers out soon, hopefully they're not super tight from being 70K overdue, and take pics of them when your done. Im curious what they look like!!

My girlfriends 04 subie forester recommends plugs every 30K like our tacoma, I changed them for her when she was at 102K cause I had an extra two hours and her lack of maintenance was driving me nuts....The electrodes were just little nubs and her car ran WAY better after. They were also a pain in the ass to remove. Sad what her rear diff oil looked like after 98K of use, melted down tires as gear oil??:D Maintenance will go along way if you want a car/truck to last...

I cannot guarantee that they haven't been changed though... I got my truck at 75k and it has run like a champ since then. I have a lot of maintenance to do once the weather gets a little nicer.

Hopefully they have been changed by the previous owner at some point, I think a dealer will do it for around $250??? It always blows me away when someone buys an expensive vehicle, or even a cheaper one, and then does not follow the maintenance book. Some people just buy new every few years or so and dont really care about it, then it becomes someone elses headache when they buy it used. If a used car/truck does not have maint. records I will just walk away and find one that does, but thats just me.

My girlfriends dad has the buy new every couple years attitude and laughed when she mentioned I changed her plugs cause it didnt need it. After showing her what the used plugs looked like compared to a new one, even she understood. Her car ran a lot better afterward as well, I wonder why???;)

I think you might be getting a tad excited about my overall maintenance habits. Short of my plugs, all of my maintenence usually happens well before it is due.

Sorry if I came off that way, it does not matter to me one way or the other what another person does to there vehicle. Seems like there are a lot of people who dont do a damn thing to their trucks and expect it to last...some last and some dont I guess. You can also baby it and follow everything correctly and still have problems.
