They should have a satellite/ on-star kill- switch for these trucks to prevent stupid people doing stupid sh#t like this... leave them stranded until the rangers or any police agency picks them up.

    Edit: Or just leave them...

Then they are just "road clutter" on one-lane (or at best 1.3 lane) roads. :notsure:

Having had to move an abandoned SxS left in the middle of a very narrow trail in Colorado in order to pass, I definitely don't think that's the answer.

(Fortunately it wasn't damaged enough to prevent us and a SxS driver who was already there from popping it into neutral and rolling it back 20 feet to a passable location, because backing up a wet, narrow uphill trail for a mile in order to turn around would've really sucked. We came across the owners carrying tools and spare parts across a creek crossing a couple miles further down the road, and let them know that we'd moved it and put the parking brake on. Not a fun day for them, I'm sure.)

edit: Probably also worth noting that stranding somebody intentionally for a traffic violatiom in a remote area of Death Valley could very well be a death sentence.

Also must check out the pupfish in that satellite park right outside the eastern gate. Rarest fish in the world. This puddle thing is the only place they live

Very true. I suppose this puddle is hundreds of feet deep.

It's been mapped to 500 ft. Beyond that it is unmapped. It's for sure over 1000' and possibly much deeper. With rebreather tech the current cave diving depth record is just over 1000'. So even if the NPS would allow it fully mapping it is a pipe dream.

Live @ETAV8R said, it's much more then a puddle. lol

Step 1: Propose NOAA do some research.
    Step 2: ???
Step 3: Have Robert Ballard drop a micro ROV down there.

The NPS actually has a dive team but it's more to monitor the fish and less to fully explore the depths of the system. I also think it would be rad to drop an ROV down there.

There’s cool video out there of these holes sloshing around because of seismic activity on the other side of the globe.

With some of the latest equipment used in mapping caves, I would think NPS interest would be high. Especially if someone were to present a plan and do the work.
