    Check out the PDF in post #2. When I changed my fluid, both temp 1 and temp 2 were very close. I waited for both temps to get above 95 F and got a dribble from the check plug before it reached 113 F.

    Eh, I used a scangauge and it was adequate. as long as you're within range, i wouldn't stress too much about it.

    Ones the pan, the other is the torque converter. In that order, I believe. But if you aren’t driving with the tc unlocked, they will be very close so it doesn’t matter

    All previous posts are correct. I’m interested in just where in Techstream you put it into check mode?

    I know Its not the proper way..
    I Drain fluid.
    Take a gallon pump sprayer and fill it with WS in the fill hole.
    crank the truck and shift it though the gears a few times.
    Take the check plug out and soon as i feel the pan getting warm to the touch.i put the check bolt back in.
    2009 tacoma with 200k now..i do this every 20k or so...fluid looks brand new ever time i change it.

    You still need to manipulate the stick. Techstream Active test under Tranny control module will jumper 2 terminals. Then you will have to move the stick back and forth. Once you engaged the temp mode, you will stop the Active test

    I understood the OP to not be interested in the formal "Check Mode" and was only interested in the temperature. I think this was confirmed when I asked him for his input on just where within Techstream he found the ability to activate the Check Mode process.

    While the 1st initial process of moving shifters through all the gears is a great idea, I believe it is really there to fill all the drained channels within the transmission and valve body. The subsequent repetitive gear shift actions to enter the Check Mode may not be necessary within Techstream to enter the Check Mode. I haven't used Techstream yet to do so, as I find the universally available process to be easy enough to enter without getting out the computer and getting connected to Techstream.

    I find it strange that so many people resist using the easily accessible process of using the two-pin shorting in vehicles prior to MY2020 (Sept 2019) and no shorting afterwards.

    The OP's 2023, like my 2021 will not have the two terminals on the DLC3.

    Just to be clear the official "Check Mode" also controls the idle speed making it technically superior to just monitoring the temperature of the transmission in whatever way one chooses. Although this is probably not absolutely necessary.

    @Vlady
    Do you have personal experience with a 3rd Gen when using Techstream to enter Check Mode that the many repetitive transitions from IIRC Neutral to Reverse is necessary?
