I fixed it today about 95% of it! Check your crashbar. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/front-creaking-sound-solved.46921/ Used this thread to fix it. I ended up taking my front bumper off and discovering previous damage from an accident (not by me) on the crash bar and I think that might be the cause of it but it went years without this noise. I discovered on ProDemand there is a TSB (NV003-06). My fix was (Breaking off the part of the bent medal not related to the noise.) loosening the 6 bolts that hold it on and cleaning the surface it contacts with the crash bar and there's just a few little noises but other then that its mostly solved and way less annoying. But to conclude I am gonna do the front end conversion in about a month which requires a new crashbar and I am hoping that will fix all of these issues.

Do you by any chance remember the size of the hex for the preload? 24mm?

Sounds good, the noise came back for me but its less settle so I think replacement crashbar support brackets would fix it. But I forgot to mention, I used a wire brush and some simple green to degrease it to try and clean both the contact surfaces. Good luck I hope it comes out good.

    PROBLEM SOLVED.

    It was front aluminum bumper.

I completely removed the aluminum bumper (crush cans and the bar), took the truck for a test ride (bumps, reversing with steering wheel completely left/right) NOT a single click.

So, I did some modification before installation. I drilled holes bigger (circled red) as they were tight fit, to allow more play for the bumper when the frame is flexing.

I made rubber gaskets (from 1.5-2 mm thickness floor mat material) and installed them between Frame--Crush Cans and Crush Cans--Bar.

Tacoma FSM says 43 ft-lb for the nuts, I torqued all 12 nuts to 35 ft-lb, as I was just squeezing the rubber, 35 is enough.

    NO MORE CLICKING

    Thank you, guys!!!

Congrats! I'm glad you got it fixed. This noise was driving me nuts for almost a year without any solution. Went offroading a bit yesterday and the noise was there but way quieter.

I had a feeling that's what it was! Glad you got it figured out.
