just bricked my ecu attempting to flash a yotawerx tune last night. waiting for vftuner zendesk email response. hopefully can get my truck back up and running soon. flash failed in the middle of flashing, and now ecu recovery tool is doing the same thing, failing in the middle of flashing. havn't flashed a tune on vftuner 3.0 yet. using original tactrix usb cable that i've used to flash many vehicles in the past. have my own thread here https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/vftuner-tune-failed-seeking-help-asap-truck-wont-start.856174/ but just posting incase somethings going on or maybe its just back luck for me.

Rick, make sure your VFT is fully up-to-date. Some recently released updates are required for the software to function properly. You might consider a complete uninstall, reinstall, and apply any updates available within the software.

As for the brick, I had a corrupted tune file cause this once. Download a fresh copy from the source if you can. If you are DIY customer, this was probably an email containing the file. Get a fresh copy from that message.

Hope you can get it sorted man. The corrupted file that bricked mine required recovery on a bench. Hopefully that won't prove the case for you. Good luck!

I actually had to do a fresh install of vftuner to get it to even open. I completely removed all vftuner related folders and files and did a fresh install prior to this flash.

the source file was an email from you guys I replied back to the email to let the sender know if the situation as well. I attempted to flash the linear file of the two files that were sent.

I'm hearing that I should be able to download and install vftuner onto another separate computer and attempt flash. That the software is now tied to the tactrix dongle and not the pc. I have a family laptop I can install the software on and attempt the flash that way to rule out any PC usb related concerns. I may try that next with the ecu recovery tool while I wait for a response from vftuner zendesk on what to do next.

Just chiming in to say I got my Tune to flash. I was able to use the ecu recovery tool with an access code from vftuner. the problem ended up being an issue with my usb extension cable. I bought a new extension cable on Amazon and the flash went through. recovered to stock, and flashed the Yotawerx NA linear tune. liking it so far feels strong and shifting feels apropriate.
