Why buttons and knobs on the center console like a car?

Discussion in '4th Gen. Tacomas (2024+)' started by yotadust, Apr 24, 2025.

?

3rd Gen vs 4th Gen front cabin (not considering the 4th gen's seat height and head room fixes)

  1. 3rd gen is more tougher

  2. 4th gen is more tougher

I was also trying to figure out how to get in the bed with the tailgate down since it has those 4runner rear bumpers on them? Are y'all climbing the rear tires? that's how I have to do it on the 2023

I really just want to help Toyota turn this thing into a real truck but I don't think I am their target audience.

BooHoo... First of all, don't GET the drinks in CUPS. Get the bottle with caps instead which they are spill proof.

Lot of cars have buttons like that... Don't like it? Then you start your OWN company to build cars... Don't blame us if they tell you bad things like you did about 4th gen.

Each company can NOT please everyone... that's what it is.

We have different cars/trucks that fit our needs... that's simple. Just like you don't like what Toyota did, then you move on to Chevrolet or (other brand for that matter) and see for yourself.

    as a woman, this sounds kinda suck/up like . . . .
and you forgot irrational, unreasonable and inconsistent on that list of 'attributes'

yea, women are good at education and attaining skills, but women are unable to apply those skills in a logical and consistent manner .. .. which makes them frustrating co/workers at the least

where are you at on the buttons on top of the center console right in front of the center arm rest? My wife love the idea because its just like her Highlander. Her logic is you don't have to reach to the dash to mess with the 4wd system and you don't have to lift your arm off the center rest.

@yotadust I really dislike the buttons on the center console, too. They belong on the dash. The placement on the center console makes it difficult to put down a hand to position yourself in the seat. Everywhere I want to put a hand, there's a button in the way...

I miss the ceiling-mounted controls from the 3rd gen. Gave it that airplane cockpit feel.

No, hate it - buttons/knobs belong on the dash

That isn't logic, it just justification for being lazy AF..
God forbid you lift your freaking arm off the center rest - you have to be kidding me, right?
Also, seriously, how often is she engaging the 4WD . . . like OMG . . . I have to lift my arm up like 4x a year?

That is rascist! Seriously though. Still a broad brush of generalization. There are guys who can't drive a manual or even reverse using only their mirrors, or have irrational temper tantrums at work, so...you know, intelligence is spectrum. Bros are male Bettys, change my mind.
