Die grinder update if anyone is interested. Spoiler, Home Depot is running some awesome sales right now!

My last comment was I would just get a pneumatic because I wanted the power and compact size of the gen 2 Milwaukee but didn’t want to go broke buying their H.O. Batteries…

Decided to spring for the Hercules because of its size, it was cheap and tested out well against the gen 1, so figured I’d deploy it for lite duty and bust out an angle grinder for anything more serious.

Then HD put the Ryobi as well as a mega pack of H.O. batteries on super sale this week so I snatched one of those too, lol.

Gonna play with the Ryobi first to see if I want to keep or sell/return the Hurc. Might not be bad to have a small option for light duty and break out the big bitch when I need to knock down some real material.

Overall I’m about $120 in to the Herc (got an open box deal on the 4ah battery and charger) and $200 in to Ryobi (grinder is currently on sale for $70 and battery bundle $130), so still less total than the gen 2 and a single H.O. battery :D

Been hearing good things about that HF model.

Post back when you get some time behind either of them. I find I won't need a die grinder for much of what I do, but it's a tool that can come in handy for that one job you need it for just like my mini cut off tool.

I've got the Milwaukee mini cut off and I hardly ever use it, but the few times I did it worked way better than any angle grinder, plasma cutter, or reciprocating saw could do.

    Will do!

I just want to have options other than busting out a heavy angle grinder for every use case. This is embarrassing but I tweaked my back last weekend and I think it was because I was wielding my bigger grinder all day Saturday…

Ryobi should eat up surface prep and all my welds are getting some grinding for the foreseeable future, so if it’s up to that task too it will be money well spent! Not expecting to go smooth and flush with it, just knock down some of the boogers :anonymous:
