Amanda’s landlady actually just did them silver. The grille was originally purple like the rest of the car, and I have no idea why she chose to paint that too…

 

Cost of renting a car or taking an Uber a few days a week for an entire year amounts to almost $5,000!

Cost of buying the PT Cruiser, insuring it for six months, registering it for a year, and paying all of the fees associated with transferring the title comes to less than $1,400!

Yep. That's a great way of analyzing it.

 

Plus it’s OBD2, which means my mechanic will work on it and inspect it! My mechanic Pete will not do major work on pre-OBD2 American vehicles, just older Volvos and some other European cars. Joe, who works for Pete, used to be a Toyota tech and does work on some pre-OBD2 Toyotas. One regular customer owns a 1991 T4R and another brings in a 1970s FJ40. The will do rudimentary work on older vehicles like tires, and A/C work if the vehicle is new enough to use R134a, but they generally don’t work on vehicles older than 1995-1996. Joe is not a fan of Chrysler in the slightest, but when I told him the car was $800, he said to go for it!

 

Amanda and I went to A-Day, at Delaware Valley University, which is where I saw the red 2006 Tundra. It's always been a good time, with my favorite parts being the live animals and the blacksmith demonstrations. A local generator dealer was letting kids color on a brand new Kohler natural gas generator in order to attract potential customers (the parents of said children)...

 

I am embarrassed to say that this was my first time seeing the inside of a natural gas home generator up close...

 

There was also a sheep herding demonstration with owners of the sheep and the sheepdogs sheering their sheep onsite. The dog in the first picture is actually half Border Collie and not a working dog, but he was too cute not to take a picture of! More on the actual sheep herding later...
