I see. Thanks for the pictures. My sense is that this design is common in Toyotas but not sure. Perhaps this is a not-tight-enough tolerances issue.

Yeah - was never an issue for me on my 3rd gen. I think it’s more of a first run of vehicles issue. These issues crop up and they fix it over time. A 2022 third gen is going to have all these kinks worked out. All that said, I’ve now fixed 2 rattles (rear driver door and this issue) with some tape and my truck is now perfectly silent. Not bad for a new model.

This electrical tape solution works but it is clearly not going to last. IMG_6689.jpg

Thanks for posting this fix. Solved the rattle in my 2025. Did you replace the tape with something else?

I had a rattle that everyone swore was coming from the rear back seat area, even me. It took me riding in passenger seat to finally realize it was coming from glovebox. The included hitch pin was at the very bottom under all the paperwork and stuff. It was the hitch pin rattling against the bottom of the glovebox in my case. Once I removed that, all the rattling stopped :)

It makes you realize how tight a vehicle has to be constructed not to rattle - the RVH guys are so critical and I wish there was a way to send this feedback to toyota for the improvement of the truck for future year models

Lol I agree. I had my gf drive me around while I sat it back seat trying to figure out the rattle. I was about to go nuts

A stiffer structure will test cheaper plastics used throughout the cabin. Toyota can’t fully duplicate 10-20-30k miles of real world use themselves, so that’s where we come in. So far, I’d say pretty good.

I’d say this truck is doing excellent. I totally agree with you that said the rattle in the back is right out of the box right out of the factory that’s something that should be fixed. There was another rattle from the rear door panel from the factory, so these are things that can be fixed going forward

Wrapping this plated piece works: I used white, wide-width cloth First Aid tape to wrap it. I hardly ever lower the seat backs, so it should last a long time. I also wrapped the ones on the metal floor under the back seat bottoms. I'm not sure how those work since the two halves don't seem to latch together: maybe a safety feature in the event of a rear-end collision.

Have had a rattle going over railroad tracks that sounds like it's coming from the headliner behind my head. Maybe this is it. Will definitely give it a shot.

Use Aluminum HVAC tape. MUCH tougher for stuff like this. Do it in short lengths, it is incredibly sticky.Use scissors to cut it.

And the last rattle that drove me nuts.........well, it was a CD in a case under the seat where the CD inside was loose. Drove me nuts.
