My heater blower stopped working. If I hit the bottom of it as shown in the picture, it'll work for a while, then stop until I hit it again. When it works, it works well on all speeds. Is it serviceable, or do I just need to replace it?

Your blower motor needs to be replaced, this is a part that the OEM is worth paying for, aftermarket blower fans almost always make noise.
Its possible but unlikely that its the blower resister but for that to be the issue the fan would work on high speed.

Check the connectors at the blower and resistor and make sure they aren't toast but sounds like the blower motor is on it's way out.

Wiggle the wires and see if it comes on. The contacts get burnt up and corroded

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I just slam the glovebox door for the last 12 years.

Thanks for all the responses, I appreciate them! I have checked all the connections, and wiggling them makes no difference. The only thing that fires it up is a good thump on the bottom (just like my wife! Just kidding I'm not married.). Of course, I haven't tried slamming the glove box like someone suggested. I look forward to performing that experiment!
I am curious if anyone knows why this would occur internally. I'm guessing it's an internal electrical connection because if it was binding I would assume it would smell, or blow a fuse. Anyway, thanks again!

It failed cause its a 20 year old part that get used dailt depending on where you live for 4-10 months of the year. Once you hit 15 years old even on factory parts stuff is gonna start to breakdown and fail at a increasing rate.

It's typically the brushes get worn out and no longer firmly contact the comutator bars, if it stops in a "dead spot" where it's not making a good electrical connection it won't start back up without tapping in it.
