    Hi Tacoma people

I have a 1999 that I been working on for the past 4 years , it. Has a 2.7 4cyl it is 4x4 . I am planning on replacing it with a v6 my father in law has. My question is . Is it better to get a donor truck like a 2000 4Runner with everything or what else would I need to do this swap . Pictures at the bottom of before and after still a work in progress.

    thanks in advance

Would be easier to get a donor Tacoma with the full V6 wiring harness or pull the harness from a salvage yard. You could source the engine itself from the 4Runner.

Yeah I was reading some post of some that have done it and looks like it needs a lot of parts of the donor . That’s why I was thinking if I should get the engine of him or look until I find a full donor

Just keep the 3RZ - it's not worth the trouble swapping in a V6. It'd be cheaper and easier to just find a Tacoma that came with the V6 from the factory.

Put a LCE supercharger on it instead. Similar power and 1/10th of the effort

Imo the 3RZ was the best engine that came in these trucks. Best combo of power and gas mileage. They also take boost better
