I used to have an Abyssinian. His favorite activity in the world was going berzerk on the bed when I put new sheets on. If he got your hand, he would not let go.

This is one of my favorite photos of the younger one. She looks like a straight line with eyeballs.

Found this old kitty cup while cleaning out some storage. Set it down and Copper was in it in less than 10 seconds. It has a little heating pad in the bottom. Copper has been in it about 3 hours with no indication of vacating.

    RIP Norris.
Adopted 12 years ago...age unknown. He was a real bastard who eventually accepted being scratched behind the ears.
Geriatric complications...decided we needed to put him down today rather than put him through unexplainable stress and only a chance at possible recovery.
I got home from work Friday and usually hang up my laptop backpack but I set it down on the table...and he said "mine"

That's a horrible idea. What time?
Well, since we're sharing sad stories, we said good bye about a week ago to Sasha, the smaller gray one, and will say goodbye to Samspon on Monday. They are a few months shy of 18 years and we're litter mates.

Sasha had been showing signs of dementia for about a year, but still was having a good life and enjoyed cuddling with my wife. She took a turn for the worst about two weeks ago, and by the time we could get to the vet, she couldn't walk to the water fountain or eat. She was a small cat at about 7 pounds and never outgrew her kitten collar.

Sampson used to weigh a solid 13 pounds. He's now down to about 7. He has some dental issues but isn't strong enough to handle the anesthetic for the surgical fix. So he has been on a soft food diet for the last month or so. His back half has gotten sore and he no longer climbs the stairs. His dementia has kicked in and he has nipped toward my wife a few times when she change positions and disturb him. He is no longer appearing to "enjoy" life and is having some difficulty with daily functions. So he's getting lots good treats (tuna loins yesterday and today) naps in the lap, and scritches when he wants them. He's been "my bud" since we adopted him. I had knee surgery about 15 years ago and would nap in a recliner (because sleep was a rare commodity for a week). I would wake up with him spread out on my stomach or.curled in next to my good leg. He will be missed as much as Sasha.

But they will go to TN with us when we move and we'll spread thier ashes out where they can watch birds all day long.
