they are not long enough... it isn't the width.

they are a lot longer than anything Toyota offers. I had a 2nd Gen with the mud flaps in your picture (oem) and they don’t last long if you’re off road.
It’s mainly the design of the new trucks. Look down the side of a 1st, 2nd or 3rd Gen Tacoma, the area getting pelted is flush with the rest of the body. This new 4th Gen has very pronounced body bulges at the 4 wheels.

My 2nd Gen had a lot of stone chips as well but it had over 300k and saw a lot of back roads and trails with the stock flaps like yours for over 200k.

My mud flaps and running boards have stopped all but 3 tiny chips not even noticeable unless you’re very close in almost 20k with a fair bit of forestry roads.

That is why I put these rubber ones on my 3rd gen.. they don't break off when in tough offroad conditions. The Taco OEM flaps are behind them. The intent is for protection at high speed in 4Hi on gravel roads in the western states along with salt/sand protection during the winter months in the rust belt of the nation.

If you pull the flaps off any Gen Taco and run high speed (50 mph+) gravel in 4Hi the damage will shock you...

Did you get the 9W x 15.75L or 11W x 17.63L? The one you have in pics looks perfect for the truck. Thanks

Yes they are. They look slightly larger so couldn’t hurt I almost ordered those same ones. Some people are calling them Canadian spec.

I ended up ordering some other generic ones that looked bigger in the listing, but idk, it’s better than what was on there before!

Just buy some material on Amazon and make some like I did. Cheap and easy with as much or as little coverage as you want. Screenshot_20240916_211034_Gallery.jpg

Are you going to spray paint the lady silhouette or Yosemite Sam on the back of them? :D

I helped test-fit some mudflaps identical to those from Triplealiners...
Dont think thats the answer, not big enough to really feel comfortable / confident that youre not going to have issues...

The OP pictures look exactly like what happened to my 3rd gen Tacoma fenders and flares after just one Winter of driving on occasional snow covered and graveled highways and roads.
It's not just a Tacoma thing. It happens to a lot of vehicles.

Running boards are more effective than mud flaps, unless the mud flaps are long like oem 1st and 2nd gens.
