    Bought myself a pitter yesterday:

    2022 CRF125f (small wheel) IMG_1861.jpg

first fuel injected bike i’ve ever owned.

I did an oil change, spark plug, new grips, cleaned and lubed the chain, ordered a new air filter and new pegs.

it still needs tires. Not sure what to get. I still kind of wish I had gotten a big wheel model but this thing is still a blast and will serve its purpose for training new riders!

Began my endorsement class last night. First three hours were online.
Six hours on the range today.
Another 2-3 hours online this evening.
Another seven hours on the range tomorrow, and then it should be completed.

So I am not a carburator guy. Most everything I have owned, including snowmobiles, has been fuel injected. Here is my problem

Klx was running fine. Gas tank had a leak. Bought a used tank and put it on. Bike wouldn't idle after, only run with choke out or with throttle. Figured I got trash in the passage for the idle screw. Took carb apart, cleaned it up, made sure cleaner would spray through idle passage. Put back together. Still won't idle. Runs fine, as soon as I close the throttle it dies, but will rune forever with throttle on. When starting, starts hard, must use choke, and have to do a balance act with choke and throttle to get going. I have the idle screw turned nearly all the way out now, and it doesn't seem to have any effect. What am I missing?

What size KLX do you have? Did you reuse the gas line from the previous tank?

You need to clean the pilot and main jets. The pilot isnt flowing so thats why it wont idle without the throttle.

There could be quite a few things past that but that gets 99% of the issues figured out.

Okay, I will try that. I did give them a quick clean when I had it apart, but focused mainly on the idle screw. I will be more thorough this time

The idle screw is the least likely culprit.

Using some wire strands is the best way in my experience to clean jets. Then theres a multitude of air leaks that could be happening.

For the pit bike purpose. +1 to the Tusk tires. I put a set of the T45's on the RM85 (17in front 14in rear) and the tires were quality, gripped well, and seemed like theyd last a long time.

EDIT-Fuel injection FTW, keep the fuel mixed with some "startron enzyme fuel treatment" consistently and you will never have a fuel system related issue so long as you start it up at least once a year. I literally put 30ml of the stuff for every 5gal of gas in my small motor stuffs (2 stroke jetskis, carbed/fuel injected motorcycles) and havent had to rebuild a carb / clean a fuel system of my motos since I started using startron.

The shorai battery that i put in the DRZ back in 2018 died last year. So i slow charged it and it came back to life. For that whole year. Now when I went to start it back in march, she was dead dead. Might be time to replace it :anonymous:

Got up early and left in the fog, cleared up the higher I rode. Perfect morning for a leisurely rip up the canyon, not one bit of traffic. The taller gears really let that little bike stretch her legs now. Turned the rear shock down one notch earlier this week and that made a hell of a lot of difference, didn't realize I was riding at the top of the stroke. Rode about 10 miles down a dirt road that I would normally drop tire pressure for and there was no need for it this time.

Goal this summer is to ride more.
