Logistically could you drive it back (albeit a long drive and not sure if it’s possible going through international borders with a new vehicle)? Shows 2,200 miles from A to B. If you fly there for free it just will cost you fuel, food, lodging. If you have the time as well.

With everything considered I would just purchase locally. I wouldn’t take the risk of damage and with no sales tax and then having to pay to ship it sounds like a wash to me. Even if you save a grand or two I don’t think the risk would be worth it. JMHO

If you have the time, purchase in WA and drive it home.

    1. Year, trim, color, transmission, bed: 2025 TRD Off Road, Bronze Oxide, Auto, 5 ft
    2. Sticker MSRP: $45,825
    3. Only options were the 14 inch Screen and heated seats
    4. Price with Discount: $39,877 (13% discount, $5,948 off MSRP)
    5. Incentive: $500 off (College Grad)
    5. Price Out The Door (OTD includes taxes, titles, fees, incentives, prior to trade equity and down payment and extended warranty): $40,430
    6. Traded in 2023 Tacoma SR DCSB 4x4 for $34,000
    7.Date purchased: April 19, 2025
    8. State purchased: Colorado (Pedersen Toyota in Ft. Collins)
    9. Also purchased Toyota Platinum Warranty 6 yr/75k mi coverage for $845
    10. Financed with Toyota at 4.99% for 60 months

I worked with 3 different dealers in my region: Pedersen, Stevinson East, and Mountain States. Stevinson were willing to do steep discounts and I got Pedersen to match the best offer. Mountain States would not match other offers and was the most difficult to work with.

Can someone tell me how much I should offer here? Rhode Island. Seems like people are getting great deals.

Agree with at least 10% off MSRP (or $4974 discount). Easier to work out total selling price before factoring in the trade

What is your trade? Have you got any 3rd party offers (Carmax, Carvana)?

33 was the carmax offer and I guess they have a deal with carmax so they were able to match their offer. Its a 2020 sport with tech premium package.

9 - 10%. Hybrid might be a little more tricky.

I got them down another 500 dollars but they wont budge off that number. Other deals in the area will do 5k off MSRP but wont give me the same for my trade.

Dealers look to see which you focus on more - discount off TSRP vs trade value - then they structure the deal accordingly. The person focused on getting a great discount will get shafted on the trade, and the person focusing on getting a great trade in value will see less discount.

Turn the tables - focus on total out the door cost and don't worry about the push/pull of the discount vs trade. Have an offers from Carvana and Carmax in your pocket - if the dealer trade offer is less (accounting for tax impact*) then go sell to Carvana/Carmax and use the cash for the new vehicle.

    * here in GA and I suspect many other places, tax on the new vehicle is based on difference between purchase price and trade-in credit. So at 7% tax, your $33k trade-in offer would be equivalent to $35,310 Carmax offer.

I always negotiate the sales price of the new vehicle first. If they won’t knock off 10% today, the negotiations are over. They never get a shot at a trade, financing, etc.

Since Toyota doesn't allow customers to build an order,

How many build stages does Toyota actually have and in which stage or stages can they modify a vehicle to suit consumer demands?

I was told yesterday stages A, B, C, D, E, F, and they can only change in the first stage. Seemed like bs to me.
