I feel that, when I was looking for the next set of tires it seemed like every post I read would lead me a different way. At some point you just pick something and go for it. I think the Toyo's have a strong following and the AT3 had big shoes to fill with how good the AT2 was (that was one of the main reasons I got them, AT2 was great and AT3 has 3PMSF). I would recommend looking at the DynaPro XT's if snow is a priority, a friend of mine put them on his Tacoma when they first came out and they were unstoppable in the snow. The Duratrac RT's seem to look promising as well but sounds like they are noisy and heavy like the regular DT. The Cooper STMax I had were fine, I just pushed them well beyond the expected life.

Does anybody have the p285/70/17 on TRD PRO SEMA wheels? I have a 5100 lift and AAL on my truck so running about 1.5 inches of lift and my non-Lt 265/70/17 wildpeaks are worn out. I’m looking to go up in size but would love to keep the weight down. Tire rack has these listed at 47lbs. Which, is only a pound or two heavier than my WP. I was also considering the C 255/75/17 but someone on here stated the advertised weight at 39lbs is not correct.

I am replacing my Falken AT II with Toyo. I only pushed out 35,000 miles before the tread was looking thin and I like to error on the conservative side especially when using it in the back country. Tucker Tire in OC CA price is 225/tire. My Falkens were 170/tire 3 years ago o_O

I’ve read several posts about Falkens getting nowhere near the mileage that they are supposedly warranted for.

I’ve had the regular Duratracs, and at around 30,000 they do get a little loud. I don’t think the DTs are any heavier than any other tire of the same size and in the same category; at least per the data from Tire Rack.

Thought this thread was about Toyos not Durasucks or Ridge Crappers.

In reading this thread, some older posts indicated that the USA made tires had much thicker sidewalls then the Japan made tires.
Those posts were back in 2020 though.
There was even a post with Toyo confirming this (post # 492).
USA made, thicker sidewalls, a little heavier vs Japan made, thinner sidewalls, a little lighter.
Anyone know if that still holds true??
I am going to get the AT3 in LT265/70/R17 in load range E and am trying to get (hoping to get) the more aggressive sidewall sidebiters (similar to the sidewall on the flotation size tires).
    Thanks!!

    None
Tire Rack shows country of origin for both tires as Japan, but the weights still differ for both Tire Rack and Americas Tire.

Anyone have long term experience with how these tires behaved once they got worn?

Sidewall aggression has nothing to do with country of origin. So far the best I can determine is that any LT tire for a 17” wheel or larger will have an aggressive sidewall. So you will be fine. All SLs regardless of rim size are mild sidewall. LT’s on all 16” and 15” rims have been mild that I have seen.

So if you want aggressive, go with an LT on a 17” or larger wheel.

flotation size tires also have mild sidewalls on the smaller wheel sizes. I have had both 30x9.5R15 and 31X10.5R15 on my Jeep and both were mild.

Thanks so much for your reply.
This is great information to know.
Happy to hear that I should get the more aggressive sidewall with the 265/70/R17 regardless of country of origin.

Pretty sure that’s a misprint on the C and probably the E too. One guy got the E’s and said they were 53-54 lbs which is typical for an E in that size. C’s in that size are usually 45-47 lbs. I have only seen one person post about getting the C 265/70R17s here and then their post disappeared. So very little actual info.

I recently switched from Pirelli Scorpion AT Plus (265/70R17) to Toyo Open Country AT3 (285/70R17). I'm really impressed with the change. There's minimal loss of power, and it drives very well. Overall, a very positive initial impression.

    Hi all,

I recently had a set of Toyo AT3 tires installed.
Tire size is LT265/70R17 load range E.

I haven't had a chance to do a chalk test yet but certainly plan on doing so.

Trying to get a feel for what a good PSI is for these tires on an unladen truck??
The tire comparison website recommends 37 PSI.
I was thinking somewhere between 35-37 PSI is probably where I will end up.
What are you guys running for PSI?

    Thanks!!
