Yea it's the new apartment. I was thinking about lead paint moreso than the pipes. Idk if asbestos was used in wood flooring in the depression era.

Ah I thought that was the old one you were ditching.

You didn't sign a lease or anything yet right?

Well yea I did, that's what I'm saying is that I didn't see this gap at first cause of the guy's bed blocking it. For now my lease is only til the end of July, but I have to decide if I wanna renew by the end of the month.

    I see

Hope you got your inspection/discrepancy sheet done, signed (with a copy in hand) and provided to the landlord

Well, you may not have needed it before but one thing you should always do is perform a full walk-through of a house/apartment before committing to it.

Your initial walk-through when you check it out/inquire may not be as thorough, as you're just getting a feeler for it and see if you're interested or not.

But when it's time to exchange money (for your deposit/etc) always perform a thorough inspection, letting the landlord know you wish to document issues so they don't go against you at lease end. This could be a broken blind or two, a crack in the flooring somewhere, a missing screen on a window, etc.

I got my entire deposit back on my last apartment less cleaning fee (was only like $150) because the apartment was basically the same exact way it was when I moved in. I've done this for the few apartments I've had in the past, and if/when I need a tenant for my house, I'll make sure to document what I've done and allow the future tenant to document any pre-existing issues.

It's just called covering your own ass.

At least the deposit was only 600 bucks

    Yeah, that's cheap.

But still, I'm not the type to just throw away $600 because I got lazy or something.

However, if this isn't something you were taught to do or what have you, at least now you know.

Shit, scrolling through old pics here's the apartment I got in '18 or '19 and first rented out my house.

Small place but it was just me solo.

I've only ever gotten the cheapest brake parts on ebay and have never had a problem for dozens of vehicles

It's funny cause it showcases the infamous "new floors, gonna charge $xxxxx in rent" layout

Hey I'm happy for you. But if I don't buy OEM/equivalent on Japanese cars 99% of the time the part doesn't even work to begin with.

Or it's lifespan is 1/10 of the OEM part... like aftermarket carrier bearings lasting 5K miles. Or aftermarket lower control arm bushings lasting 10K miles.

You're going to love this... I found a carrier bearing for my blue tundra that was 12 or 16 dollars on Amazon in 2021 or 22 that's still going strong today

I sold the truck a while back but saw it at the movie theater one night and went under it to check... sure enough it was still there and in one piece

The inability to keep my toolbox handy made moving out of my dad's house suck

Really sad about the loss of my icon 1/4 inch drive flex head ratchet, just replaced it with a Pittsburgh... close enough

only buy a tool set if it has a organizing tray because that or a desigmated spot shits going to get lost

The only name brand tool I have is a MAC retrieval magnet that's strong as fuck
