Glad that's working out for you. I'm sure all of us buying OEM or equivalent are just wasting our money.

I don't turn wrenches for money, but in all my time of using tools I've broken less tools than I've got fingers.

Unless you go absolutely bottom of the barrel, it's hard to go wrong unless you're abusing shit or using it for the wrong job/improperly.

I just have insane luck with chinese white box parts

More so than parts store parts... I had a motor mount from oreillys snap at the welds while installing on my 97 camry

The ac belt tensioner pulley for my tacoma be bad out of the box from autozone

Same with the GM hei module from autozone that I put on my dodge... worked only once

@time623 As requested here are some average/representative welds from this project. Some are much tidier and some are a mess, but most are somewhere around here. They all look the same after the grinder gets em though! Just running stringers since the runs are short and material is thin.

My biggest problem is sight or aim (or both). I lose track of the joint a lot and have to run another bead or fill in some gaps. The more I practice the easier it gets though.

Also added a pic of the progress thus far. Slow going for sure but only spending a few hours each weekend on it and it is my first metalwork project after all. All that’s left is cutting and welding the 2 big shelves, weld the tank mounts and small shelf @Kwikvette made for me, and attach the caster mounts and axle! Stoked to finally get to use the plasma cutter for an actual part finally instead of just dicking around with it :D

That setup has way more thought put into it than my own shoddy cart

It's looking really badass - couldn't tell that was your first welding project at all

I don’t think so, I’d need V6 parts. I’ve got a lead on an R150 and tcase from a V6 Tundra in Kalispell though - I’m planning to pick it up for 400 bucks next weekend.
