Another OME Lift ?

Planning on lifting my 2010 tacoma dcsb 4x4 (non-tsb). I've been doing research on this site a lot but seem not to find my answer. Just want to know if the OLD MAN EMU LIFT SUPSPENSION with the 885 coils with a 2" AAL will level out my truck or will the tsb 1.5 AAL level it out? Also, I will not be adding the top plate spacers. I don't haul anything but just want my truck level and do some hunting and fishing. THanks.

 

The TSB AAL will help somewhat, but probably not enough with the 885s up front.

Get the TSB done, then get the AAL for the TSB rear leafs from OME, that is what I did.

Kind of wondering this myself. I have a 2010 4WD Sport DCLB, and I've bought the 885 with OME shocks for the front (no spacers). Now I'm considering what to buy for the AAL from ToyTec (for non-TSB leafs) to achieve more of a level look. Based on my measurements, my truck sits 1.75" higher stock. So if I get 3" out of the 885s (without spacers), as some people say you can, the 2" AAL will result in 0.75" of rake. However, if I use the 1.5" AAL, I'll be 0.25" higher in the back. Not sure how the measurements will even out after settling though. Any input would be appreciated

 

I have an 09 DCLB 4x4 , I just installed the 885's without the spacers today , I got 2 3/4" up front , I also have the Dakars out back as I haul and will be getting a cap soon .

sub. from the info ive gather over the past few months, it seems with an AC the 885s are giving about 3'' up front (without the spacer), and a 2" AAL is causing the truck to sit dead level (without a cap). as for DC (and 4x4), id say you'll get a little under the 3'' in the front. assuming you dont have a cap or anything, maybe skip the TSB and go with the 1.5" AAL in the back? seems like most of the DCs (stock) are riding about 1.5" higher in the back than the front...that'd give you about a .25" rake, which should look level.

Is it bad to go with the top plate spacer on top of the 885's?

 

i wouldnt say bad, they are made to work with the spacers. but it seems most are getting the 3" (or close to it) without the spacers, and are okay with sacrificing the .25" or so for a better ride.

 

I went with the spacer and my ride is fine..

 

i havent run either setup, im just going with what ive read. im sure the ride is alright with spacers, as it is a package made to be used together, though spacers usually= a reduction in ride quality.

Thanks for the numbers OZ-T. Glad to see you finally got it installed. Not stalking you, just saw in another thread that you had the kit sitting around for a while. I actually bought the same OME kit as you, but a buddy of mine bought my dakars to go with his icon coilovers.

 

I don't know enough to make my opinion worth $0.02, but that's kind of what I was thinking. I'm not totally sure if the rear or front is going to settle more in the long run though. I don't haul anything regularly, so the leafs shouldn't sag anytime soon.

A buddy of mine suggested that I install the front without the spacer, install the 1.5 aal, and then take a look at how it sits. If it turns out to be too high in the front, I could then swap out the 1.5 aal for a 2. Swapping the aal is easier and cheaper (no alignment) than installing a spacer.

 

thats a good call. if you go with the wrong leaf, im sure you could install the new one and sell the old on here for like 50-60$, so you'd only be out maybe 20$ and 45mins of work.

 

thanks hNs....actually i wound up going in a little different direction. my buddy and dan for wheelers sold me on a set of the 1.5" 3-leaf progressive AAL. i just placed the order.

just fyi, i talked to toytec this afternoon and for a level look, they recommended the 1.5" AAL for at DC LB with non-tsb leafs, 885 coils, and OME shocks.

How much lift did you end up getting with the spacer?

 

Dunno, I didn't measure... probably around 3 inches after settling. I have had this setup for about a year now, and my CV boots haven't ripped or anything, no grinding...
