I don't know for sure, yet. I have not drained the oil. I checked the dipstick when i was replacing the cats last weekend. It was about 2 quarts low, but did not look like it had contamination on the dipstick.

Pretty unlikely. I think time and wear has just gotten the best out of his engine at this point if it is the piston rings that got fried.

Wouldn't say unlikely. If that cat was clogged and cylinder 6 is just getting nuked constantly with heat and back pressure. I have personally seen a clogged cat ruin cylinders if driven long enough. That was on a honda V6 but same principle.

Anyone running the URD pulley system? Looks similar, URD has been good to me so far so I'm considering that route.

And - tuning wise, go pulley first? Or does it matter? Also any tune guys in PHX AZ want to hit me up please do, my local guy has gone dark on me. I would prefer getting this done at my usual operating altitude though. But man I really want to get away from the bully dog tune asap. I know it runs lean, I'm at higher elevation so that should help I think. But it would be nice to get that checked off the list.

Looking at the URD fuel pump upgrade kit, they let you choose what kind of fuel pump if you want to move up from the walbro. Any reason to do so?

I went with the walbro. Some guys go with the other options because either higher flow rate or the ability to handle exotic fuel.

Some people think the walbro has a higher failure rate but thats very subjective.

No I'm not saying that it's not possible. I have seen Chevy's, Honda's and Toyotas get wiped out as well from bad cats. It just wasn't a frequent issue. I'm saying that based on his situation it's not very likely. I would be more inclined to say that the material in there got blown out well before it damaged the cylinder.

Fuel pump and pulley ordered. I do like the accessible fuel filter, mines been working for 15 years so probably well overdue. Upgrade time round 2 go.

I do like how the accessible filter is a run-of-the-mill Napa Gold/Wix fuel filter. Change it to your hearts (or wallets) content.

Here is the inside of my "barn find" supercharger. It sat in a garage about a mile from the ocean for 15 years.

Anything in here that concerns anybody? Im sending pics to superchargers online as well and will be ordering parts through them.

The spark plugs and a few of the gaskets and pulleys (still in bags) were completely coated in rust.

Im mostly concerned about the inside of the supercharger now. It looks decent to me luckily.

I would get a fresh rebuild and a full set of pulleys for it before anything.

Curious of those who have a non-Bullydog tune; does your tune still perform a Lean Cruise? When going up a hill, while using cruise control?

S/C install is still on track, but the exhaust is getting knocked out 1st. I wanted to go with a 3" but went the less aggress 2.5" route for fitment purposes.

Bad news, the cat failure caused the engine failure. Found cat material in the engine during tear down of the heads and timing cover. Cyl 6 has no cross hatching anymore. Tonight oil pan removal and at least cyl 6 piston and rod.

That's how cat failure nukes engines. Exhuast can't escape and has to go backwards, nuking everything in it's path. That cylinder was probably very very hot. Most of the time it will cause small driveability issue before you do any major damage

I did not have any drivability issue that I noticed for felt. Other than having the P0420 and P0430 codes and taking my to to replace the cats. Once I started to hear the cat rattle I prioritized the cat replacement. All four cats were replaced. I found it during the replacement.

Just to quench my curiosity: When you did your Kelfords did you use their clearances spec or OEM clearances?
