Toyota suspension lift

Anyone here have the factory suspension lift? How does it ride? I won't be taking it off road, but I like the looks of a mildly lifted truck. It will remind me of my 1991 toyota pick up which I actually wheeled with 33s and a 3 inch lift.

 

I am curious as well. I just built and ordered a 2025 SR5 Double cab. Added 18" wheels and the factory 2" lift. I hope it looks good and rides good.

 

Should ride quite well, given the factory lift is automatically done at the higher-end trim-levels. I have driven a TRD Sport, TRD OR and Trailhunter and they all ride very well.

 

Do you have an update? I'm also considering a 2025 with the TRD 2.5" Suspension Lift Kit already installed.

 

I asked about this at my dealer a week ago and was told things were breaking on them and they stopped selling the factory lift until they get it figured out.

And this is the 2.5” TRD suspension lift, not the Readylift spacer lift, which they still sell.

To be clear, this lift (6K)? Or are you talking about purchasing the Toyota lift kit?

 

The one you linked is the one I’m talking about. The one listed on the upper right side of that price sheet. The $3400 TRD suspension lift.
I just picked up my 2025 TRD OR last week and was at the dealer going through the process of them trying to sell me add-ons. I asked specifically about adding on that kit, and they told me that it was not available and not being sold at the moment. That sales person told me there was a stop sale on it because some part on it kept breaking. They didn’t get more specific and I didn’t ask.

There might be trucks that already have it on it that are still being sold, but I was told I could not add it onto the truck I was buying. They offered the ready lift spacer kit instead, and I declined.

 

Dealer info about parts breaking seems suspect. The Bilstein shocks are probably the same design as the OR but slightly taller (and with a red vs blue boot), the red springs are probably the same as the Pro, and the upper control arms look like the Pros minus the red paint.

Interesting that Toyota's description says the upper control arms are steel and made by Roush. Pretty sure Roush only makes parts for Ford and the uppers on my Pro are aluminum not steel. Description doesn't say it comes with rear springs or if they are red. I've seen pics of 2025 Tacomas on lots with silver TRD (aluminum) uppers so unless they did a mid-production parts change you can't trust dealer or manufacturer info about this lift.

 

Thanks. It's still an option on the Toyota website. If I go with the lift, it will come with the truck. That way, everything is covered for 3 years/36,000 miles. Anything you add after the fact, even if it comes from Toyota and installed by a dealership, is only covered for 12 months.

 

Yeah, I assume it’s not the parts of the kit that are breaking. Probably more something like having trouble keeping alignments or CV angles some other ancillary part.

The person I was speaking with was part of the sales team and I didn’t get the idea that they knew their way around suspension parts all that well so I didn’t ask for further details once it was clear that they were not going to let me add it onto the truck. They had been told they couldn’t sell that kit anymore so that was that as far as I was concerned. They knew I was perfectly willing to throw $3400 at them if they would.

i’ve seen trucks for sale that have that kit listed on it already, but I have yet to hear from anyone who was actually able to add it to a truck. There’s at least three or four other threads on this forum asking about the same thing. So far, I’m not aware of anyone who has been able to get it.

 

That sounds a nit fishy to me...like their trying to sell what's on-hand not get you what you want. I would call another dealer to make sure.

I paid almost half that on Parts/Labor for my 3rd Gen.

Definitely negotiate that into the purchase of a 4th Gen.

I shoulda done that AT LEAST with the LED Headlights...which cost me some ducketts after-the-fact!

 

The 3G Factory TRD Lift didn't include springs or upper control arms and the shocks weren't remote reservoir. But you did get a grille.

 

Does anyone know what the clearance / lift differences are between the different stock Tacoma models? i.e.

Or do all stock non-lifted Tacomas basically have the same height / clearance, etc?

 

I’m not saying that my local dealer is run by Warren Buffett, but I’m pretty sure they’re smart enough not to turn down a for-sure $3400 sale, for which they get the money immediately, just to try to sell me a $400 kit they have on hand already.

There has been nention of this stop-sale in different threads on this forum and in other Tacoma forums for months. This is not new information and not unique to my dealer.

Here’s what someone posted on a different forum that their dealer was able to look up regarding the stop sale. They blamed it on an installation tool that was breaking. That sounds familiar enough that I’m pretty sure I’ve read that in other places as well.



I don’t claim to know every detail about this, but that kit is either impossible or very difficult to get right now. Hopefully not for much longer.

 

Do you know if the 46mm shocks that come with the standard Off Road are different from the factory lift?

 

Factory lift has red boots, OR has blue.

What I find more interesting about the "factory" lift is that it includes new springs, shocks, and UCAs. Presumably because you need that combination of parts to properly do a lift. Aftermarket "lift" manufacturers will sell you a collar and say your stock shocks and UCAs are good to go.
