Nice gear set up! How do you like that GoLite Odyssey?

Good looking lady to keep you company during the trip!
Your gear looks almost identical to mine. haha I don't carry a tent normally but the p.o.s. walmart brand headlamp is on my list. I lose the things too much or break them to buy an expensive one. lol How do you like the Jetboil PCS? I just bought the 1.5 liter pot to complete the set up.
If you do a smaller day pack and venture on over to the hammock camping, you shouldn't have a problem.. hell... you could probably cram everything in to a Camelback MULE (it would be pushing it though).

    http://www.campsaver.com/flash-pack

You might be able to do that. I would pack as little as possible though. I have tried the backpack/bike thing and it was miserable with that added weight on my back. Maneuvering the bike was through way off.

You could also do something like this:
Just through a knobby tire on there and your set. I know a few guys that use these when they are doing long treks on the bikes.

Bag has been great so far...extremely light and has a wide range of adjustment so I can vary the fit to whatever load I have. She had fun going hiking but next time I'll have to get her some better gear for it (her shoes literally fell apart from how much we hiked, haha).

as for the pump, I'll be carrying a regular big ass pump, you know, the ones you step on and pump like you're about to pump an ACME dynamite explosives. :p

Ospre Kestrel 38, the perfect size pack IMO. I've had it on my back x-country skiing with a sleeping bag, and a weekends worth of clothes, full camelback in the pouch and it worked like a champ. Still had extra room in it if you are trying to get a tent in there too.

Only problem with hammocks is the Hennessey's / Warbonnet's are $150+. On the other end of things, there are $15 Grand Trunk's on Amazon. I have one, works great for something to lie in at camp, but sleeping in it makes me legs lose blood flow and it has no rainfly, lol.

My Hennessey lets me lay diagonally (warbonnets do the same thing) so I can really be flat, and it has a rainfly for when the weather turns. It was worth the money to me, most comfortable sleeping on the trail I've found yet!

Well, I've gotten into using the hennessey when it's just me or just me and the dog. A tent becomes necessary if the GF and I go though.

I really like the jetboil, it's compact and easy. I never cook on the trail, always bring just-add-water stuff, so it works great for boiling water for instant mashed potatoes, oatmeal, the occasional mountain house, etc. I buy walmart-brand fuel though, I'm not going to spend the $$ just to get jetboil brand that fits in the cup.

Dude you need to check in to the co2 pumps. I have one that looks like this:

One co2 cartridge fills a whole tire and then some... ask me how i know ... Just make sure you get the cartridges specially for bike tires. the paintball ones have oil in them. They are super compact. I usually keep one in the device (not screwed in though... once you open it up it is done) and one in my saddle bag.

I here you on the Hennessy's price. I bought the expedition asym and paid 170 or so for it. definitely worth it but that price tag is killer for a hammock. I also just bought the Grand Trunk Skeeter Beeter. It is nice too.

Have you noticed a difference in boil time with the walmart brand gas compared to the jetboil brand? I am not too in to paying a ton for that little tiny fuel canister.

As far as I know, gas is gas. I haven't ever tried the Jetboil fuel, but I see no reason it'd be different.

Just ordered it! Shipped today, should have it soon. I've read a bunch about it and even looked up some youtube vids. Seems like a great product for the price! Only downfall that was mentioned was the plastic gripper melts if you grab the pan while its too hot, obviously!!

Haha, that would be really cool to see!!

Osprey, Gregory, Kelty, CamelBak and The North Face all make decent bags that won't flop around when you bike. I'd say something in the 20-40L size should do you fine depending on how much gear/climbing you'll be doing.

I use an REI ski pack when I commute on bike. It kinda sucks because the padding gets my back all sweaty on warm days, but I didn't feel like spending the green for a bike-specific pack.

You could carry a plain old tarp and string it up between trees to save weight/space in your pack. Or guy it out off of some trekking poles. I do this occasionally when I want to hike light. Maybe a skeeter net to drape over the top if you're in a high-mosquito area.
