Yes, that will work in the front diff with 3.73 or 4.88 gears. Can't be used with 5.29 gears. I wouldn't advise using an LSD style front locker though. If you are off-roading and it thinks you are slipping when you are just turning tight and it locks, you may get thrown straight into a tree/rock. It is much better to be able to manually lock and unlock the front diff instead of relying on helical gears, springs and clutches to determine when you want to be locked or unlocked. It is very hard to turn when the front is locked.

I have one in the front of my 2015 (2nd gen). It works great. Like anything, you have to know your equipment, and how to drive it.

Lockers in the front tend to snap CV axles.

@airforceb2cc - these units do not have clutches, only gears.

Fixed my post. Same idea though. Knowing when they will grab and let go can usually be determined but takes a lot of trial and error and studying. I've been with people who were stuck and had to pick up the front end with a winch to unlock a self-locking diff because they couldn't turn or back up without rolling the truck. They are cheaper and easier to install but not always easier to wheel with. I prefer to spend a little more and get a mechanical, electrical, pneumatic locker. I'm old school though and love a good push/pull cable going to a third member.

The Torsen is mechanical, I don’t believe they ever really “lock up” as they are a torque biasing design, I could be confusing it with the TrueTrac though.

Question would be how well does it deal with the ADD and one side always spinning?

The Torsen and TrueTrac are of the same design.

And, I don't think they ever fully "lock up".

There’s a video claiming such thing was put in the front of a 2nd gen.

I’ve heard mixed things on here. 50% people saying it doesn’t fit.
    50% saying it does.

0% who have actually done it.

In all my years of wheeling, I have never seen or experienced this behavior. In my experience, that behavior would be seen in a Detroit locker or the old Lock Right.

I've always had to use the brakes to "encourage" the power to go to the spinning tire. It sounds like the torque bias ratio (I think that is what it is called) in higher in those than in mine.

Either way, something else to pay attention to next time I'm really using the front end to get unstuck.

    No.

It's as simple as applying a little brake pressure to help/encourage the power transfer, if it does not transfer by itself (tire in the air, for instance.)

Here are the other two they hit me with for the 23 SR 4X4 FRONT. Ill probably just go the air route front and back. Air work pretty good on my first gen Rubi the compressor just made a bunch of racket.

is the reason that nobody makes a regular auto (lunchbox) locker for it is because it has a weak front end?

They just aren’t practical. Why are you wanting a front locker? Rock crawling? Mudding? Overlanding?

Damn. Expensive toy to play with! Haha. It’s good you are interested in learning though. They are nice to have when you need it but you have to be in some shit to require it. Have fun!! ECGS is a great company! Are you re-gearing as well?
