I got one for my dewalt 735x. It’s a good upgrade if you have the money.

As much as I love my Domino, that would get far more use. Good call!

I built mine from the youtube instructions but that guy apparently sold the plans and rights to sell it to Veritas, which I believe is now in production.

    I didn’t think so.
I’ve rebuilt earlier model planers before, so it taking it apart was pretty straight forward.

If I had to do it again, I would however use a wood dowel rather than a metal punch to get the cutter out. It’s easy to mushroom it.

I already did the byrd head upgrade on my grizzly 8" jointer. It's definitely worth the .only in my opinion. I'll probably never change the cutters in my lifetime.

My wife brought home some driftwood souvenirs from a recent trip. I made one flat edge using my jointer, then drilled out a few holes for votive candles.

    Drift wood candle holders.

Coincidentally I just coated a micro driftwood burl. Sitting on a 2x6 for scale

    Stained the shelves finally today
PITA. The cherry is super clean, well sanded but stain didn’t seem to soak in evenly. Final sand was 400, maybe that was my problem

But multiple rubbing with clean micro fiber cloths made it look fine. Just much work after sanding then stain. Top coat Monday

The extent of my wood working lately.

Nothing left except the butt logs now. Next part will be fun because I can get the big saws out! The larger log I will mill up for lumber.

I re-built a maple desk I first constructed 30 years ago. The mechanical joints holding the top to the legs were getting floppy but You know how the addicted woodworker chooses between "abandon" and "save". Not that I have as much experience as most here, but ...

First I disassembled, removed the 30-year-old polyurethane (as much as I could) and added brand new maple pieces to reinforce the twitchy joints. I took the opportunity to experiment with stains (lighter/darker, water/oil) and stain sealers. Inconsistent as hell all around. I ended up with General Finish Seal-A-Coat and Arm-R-Seal that interacts less with color and mainly just absorbs into wood to protect the surface. Apparently finer-grained and finer-pored woods can make *consistent* staining quite the challenge and often depends on how fine a grit you last used ... can make too many different-sized pores.

In the old days no such thing as microfiber towels. They really saved my bacon - but gave me an arm workout. Never rubbed out stain to evenness but it worked

There is a reason woodworking is not cut-and-paste.

It’s why I love woodworking frankly. Yeah I whine about manual labor but it beats working for a boss. Hahahaha

I need to finish my shop. That is serious. Safety problems really

It is not the manual labor that gets me. It is the cut I made 30 seconds ago that I knew I should not have ... but that little voice in the back of my head is just too slow. And I need to start over ... :anonymous:
