You can’t determine a suspension problem from a video 25 feet away lol unless that problem is the suspension fell off

Maybe there's something funky in the movement.
    You don't know.

oh of course. so much funky movement.

the issue must be at 14 seconds when the truck moved very violently and tossed the bag off the tray. thats your problem right there!

Truck still started funny this morning after cleaning the starter terminals.
For shitz n' giggles I ordered a new relay for the starter.
(I'm avoiding taking the old starter off)

If it doesn't fix anything then I'll just deal with the issue until it gets better or breaks.

If I understand things correctly, yeah if the a rear is fully compressed it will immediately force to opposite front corner down.

But since the front is harder to compress due to the mechanical differences of the IFS, chances are you will have a wheel lift very soon thereafter without much additional front corner stuffage. Once any wheel lifts/loses traction, that’s where you stop to measure the total articulation.

The rear swaybar allows for the rear axle to better match the forces needed push the front corner down a tiny tiny bit more than without.

It’s probably worth saying that Kai’s measurements showed that a stock truck with the rear swaybar only adds a tiny bit more total articulation…fractions of an inch. So really the big takeaway is not that articulation so much better with the rear sway, but that practically speaking, removing the rear does not pay off.

This actually makes sense. I'll try to watch the video later and see if I'm in for a crow dinner.

And, I believe you about the rear sway bar delete not doing very much for you. The non-KDSS 4Runners actually get more rear articulation than KDSS models.

Plus, as we already agreed on, the best overall performance is probably achieved by only removing the front. This is the route I'd have most likely gone if I knew everything I know now, before I bought my 4Runner.

I don’t recall if you have a boot over the shocks. If not, have you noticed any mud sticking to the shock shaft? Maybe the combination of tires, wheel well shape, and shock mounting position results in those shafts getting constantly/directly sprayed with mud, gravel and water?

If it turns out to be something like that, the solution maybe as easy as putting gaiters/boots over the shaft.

I agree with the comments from somebody else here, your ute doesn’t move as if it’s under-sprung. She moves and sits sprightly and perky, so I wouldn’t think that’s the issue.

The only other thing I can think of is if maybe the forces down the shock aren’t perfectly vertical. For example, is it mounted in a way that makes it experience lateral/bending forces as it compresses? Is top shock tower cracked causing it to experience lateral/bending forces at some point in the stroke?

I think a little lateral force would be taken up by the upper and lower shock bushings (or spherical bearings if you have that), but maybe lateral forces are exceeding the range allowed by the bushings (or bearings), causing the bending load to go into the shaft. Do you see any excessive blueing at any point along the side of a shaft? If you do, it might suggest it’s getting side loads.

    Just spitballing here…

That sucks! River link is practically a scam. I'm glad I don't pass through there on my way to Florida anymore.

Ive run either boots or shields on mine. Keeps the gravel from dinging up the shafts.

I’m guessing it’s either that, or like you said something is exceeding in some direction whether that’s torque to a side or bottoming out on either side.

Hmm looks like you found one place in the country I haven’t gotten a toll from.

I’ve got an ipass and just let them sort it out. Sometimes it takes a couple weeks though for them to all show up. Got it when I used to travel to Chicago a lot for work cuz it made the tolls half price. I don’t use it a lot these days but it is handy since all the toll systems honor it.
