Little bit of this and that
Joining the 1st Gen crowd. Picked up a 1999 V6, MT, SR5 TRD for my eldest's first truck. Needs some body work (front end & driver's side) and a clutch but it runs and drives , couldn't pass it up for $1100.

I officially marked the change in season from "cold" to "warm" with the traditional semi-annual "Changing of the Grill" ceremony. There was much celebration and festivity and as usual, I drank too much and got in trouble with my wife.

Well, more of the last several days than just today. I built and installed an overhead rack for my double cab.
This may be just version one, I'm likely going to be looking at improving, and refining it as I use it.

To mount it, I replaced the handles with a pair of stand-offs, and attached my rack to that.

    20250421_112556.jpg

I loaded it up, and took a test drive over a logging road, and it doesn't rattle around, or have any other weird noises, so far...
    20250421_113148.jpg

Sooner or later the rear seat is coming out, and I will be building a 'rear seat delete' platform.

Hi All! I am trying to sell these wheels and I know people put them on the first gens. Is the bore size the same? Or how does that work? I have someone asking..

    Thanks for your help!

Those are 3rd gen wheels, not 4th gen, right?

3rd gen hub bore and lug size/spacing are the same as 1st and 2nd gen. Those will bolt up fine to a 1st gen.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Energy Suspension body mounts with SRQ Fab 1 inch body lift.

But these cuts were made to clearance with stock body mounts, no coil overs, and no bump stops installed.

    Everything but the driveshaft. B03A - 410
I like the way they run. I had some 1" bora spacers that I put on just to give them a little more clearance on shart turns.

New OEM upper ball joints are in. Many fights along the way between finding the right parts to press them out, freeing from the upper ball joint, that fucking weird C clip, seating them properly etc. Glad I’m done!

Been there done that, not fun. Installed one side using the ball joint c clamp style rent a tool, fought it for 2 hours and done. The next side I pulled the knuckle and put it in the shop press. Out with old in with new 20min.

Those rings are a snap with the right tool. I use Knipex 4510170.

    upload_2025-4-29_20-7-5.png

Looks like they've been discontinued and replaced by 4511170.

    https://www.knipex.com/products/cir...ng-ring-pliers-retaining-rings-shafts/4511170

There are other brands that I'm sure would work just as well. A bit of a splurge but from the moment I used them the first time I had no regrets.

Drop bracket lift and booger welds
all of this. Use them to rebuild cv’s, do the c clips on the rear axles etc. before these life was hell doing those with regular snap ring pliers.

What is the foot box like ? I'm guessing this truck is a auto , because it has to be tight in there.

Can I get some insight on my old plugs ? Only one side has combustion marking on them .
You can see the blacking on this side.
    20250426_191707.jpg
And almost nothing on this side.
