Why buttons and knobs on the center console like a car?

Discussion in '4th Gen. Tacomas (2024+)' started by yotadust, Apr 24, 2025.

?

3rd Gen vs 4th Gen front cabin (not considering the 4th gen's seat height and head room fixes)

  1. 3rd gen is more tougher

  2. 4th gen is more tougher

Toyota over contemplated and over styled the selector that isn't in the driver's line of sight. Maybe if Toyota wanted to do that in the LC 250 or something else, it really isn't necessary in a midsize truck.

    9 to 3 - 3rd gen on this survey.

Are these numbers skewed due to higher number of 3rd gen owners or are 4th gen owners voting for 3rd gen cabin?

It sound like you think folks see the controls on the center console as being an upgrade of sorts? Like an effort by toyota to make it more upscale like a lexus truck or something. Im not dogging it, im just trying to understand why...

I'm not sure why Toyota wanted to LexusFi the Tacoma interior? That alone wouldn't have me choosing the Tacoma over any other midsize, I don't hate it but wonder why they made that decision. I know Toyota wanted to capture some of that Bronco flavor, but I think you can get rubberized flooring on the Bronco which would have been what I'd prefer on the 4G.

You know SUVs are at their end game when they charge a premium for luxury hard-rubber floors and wipe-clean vinyl, and every other cleverly named material that would have been found on the impoverished contractor trim 40 years ago.

I asked for the milk crate seat mod and they rushed me into a dark room with a single naked bulb casting a Swiss banker in shadow. The scent of Lindt chocolat gave it away.

You've probably never heard of it.

Your poll question has nothing to do with 4wd selector or button placement.

Gen4’s interior reminds me of what my ‘14 FJC’s interior would look like if they’d have updated it for the 2020’s it = burly and modern.

I love Gen3, but people are seriously leaning on tiny chrome door handles, the world’s smallest volume knob, randomly designed-shaped-placed buttons & dials, a flimsy feeling 4x4 knob, and no storage left over for a lousy pair of sunglasses?

Come on now, Gen3 self-congratulation is currently being served exclusively on the Gen3 forum…you may exit the Gen4 forum at the rear doors, and please don’t forget your phone charge cables.

sunglass holders are another thing for the girls that shouldn't be on trucks. Men throw theirs above the visor and slam it closed.
