    Hello members!

I just got home from the local dealer where I closed on a blue 2017 Tacoma TRD Off-road! 156k miles, camper shell, Decker drawer system installed. 1 owner, full service records, been in this same area since new!

I have had several Toyotas in the last 10 years or so, Hilux, Corolla station wagon, Avensis station wagon, 2 Rav4's, 4Runner, Land Cruiser Prado, FJ Cruiser and now a Taco!
Coming from Sweden, I've had some different models/versions than we can get here and the Hilux was an absolute favorite! 3.0 diesel, automatic, it was the bees knees!

Last May I bought a 2008 FJ Cruiser, didn't work for us with the doors and how small it was. Been trying to sell it for 2 months, no takers.
Yesterday this lady from a dealer called because I had asked about the Tacoma. Went to see them today, tested the truck. Smooth, no rust, clean title, clean Carfax. Somewhat high miles maybe, but reasonable priced for the area. Prices are wild though!

They gave me a good deal on the FJ, which is kinda falling apart, split CV boot, some rust, plastic parts coming off etc. I then managed to negotiate it down to just over $20k, from $22k. The JD Power value was close to $25k.
I want to think I scored nice this time, very solid truck!

Sorry for the long intro, will grab some better pics another day

Welcome, that’s a very nice truck! Are you saying you got them to give you over 20 for the FJ or you got the truck for 20?

Sorry for the confusion, I got the truck for $20k. Part FJ, part cash

Thanks fellow Taco owners! Excited to be part of this family now :)
Got no real plans for it but it's our second vehicle, we have a leased 2024 Rav4 Hybrid as our main, but I'm an avid outdoorsman so it'll be used.

Quick q, what's is the best Facebook group to join for Tacoma's? I saw that Taco Nation is huge, almost 300k members!
Or is the forum the place to be?

There are probably 1000's of FB groups; and they're all the same. The forum is the place to be.
That being said, FB is a good place to fill your feed with constant Tacoma content and inspiration. TW will be the place to find genuine advice, help, and interaction with people who are a little more knowledgeable. There's also some idiots here though; and we're all assholes

    Welcome to TW!

    Sounds about right! :)

It sure seems like a solid truck and happy to be in a pick-up again! Not that I do a ton of pick-up stuff, but it is so nice to have that large trunk space and a full backseat! Just need to figure out some things and get to know it better. Still don't have a perfect name but working on that too ;)

The advice given to me early on (that I didn't take), and the advice I'll give to you, just drive it for a while, use it, and upgrade things as you find the trucks limits. Sadly, I did the opposite and ruined the drivability of my truck (but I still love it, don't get me wrong!) throwing every mod I could at it. Enjoy it for exactly what it is exactly how it is right now. For people who don't do a ton of pickup truck stuff, a stock tacoma is such a cool template to start with. Go ahead and hide the wallet, you'll be modding it soon enough! :boink::spending:

That's my plan. I can do some things myself, change the oil and filters, I have replaced a generator on the LC once but mostly useless under the hood and in the garage.
And I prefer it stock. The FJ I traded was modded with a lift kit, ARB bumper with a winch and it was just too much for me and my use.
I was considering a 2007 4Runner, but they asked $16k for it and this was not a big bump to get a 10 year newer vehicle that was local too. Prices around the Rockies are crazy when it comes to Toyotas!

Added the Taco to the Toyota app, found that the dealership installed a block heater too! Thought there was something funny in the engine compartment!
Coming from the Arctic, I'm used to block heaters and this is a nice surprise too! This truck keeps giving and giving so got to prepare for something bad to come...
