Yes, I prefer to negotiate without the trade involved, but I've been told that sometimes dealers have different corporate incentives which might lead them to inflating the trade value to offset lesser discount.

In the end I just care about the total cost, so if they have some flexibility to jiggle things around to end up with a better deal for everyone all the better.

2025 tacoma trailhunter bronx oxide, 6ft bed, had couple hundred of miles on it, driven from dealer to dealer, never title so I assume management take it for a spin, Jan built date
    msrp before option $63,235

option roof rack, spray on bedliner, toyoguard plat, multimedia screen protector total $3129
side sticker skeptical option..tint, floor mats, smart dual usb which I havent found, alloy wheel locks, clear package, pinstripe which I peel off on next day total $2500

and deli process handling fee $1545

listed with add on total $70k

price out the door $68200..include military discount and got my own tag no trade
    5% interest finance

Just want to tell everyone I used Toyota Smartpath online shopping and went through many dealers, some use online discount as gimmick to get you in, some honor the discount.

while i was searching, most if not all tacoma except Limited and Trailhunter have some kind of specials ie 0% to 1.99, 2.99% interest, to get military discount, you have to finance through them but I have my own back already approve when I walk in, they told me they could only offer 7% or around, then later they match my bank and I get additional $500 off. My dealer came through to get me the truck I want. They didn't have the truck and had to look elsewhere but still honor the price they promise.

I did same thing and expand search mileage range, there's so many out there, and they have enroute vehicle and vehicle in build phase, I doubt they gonna increase prices, everything is already so high and too many inventory, demand is not gonna be there.

I have a TRD OR manual on order from a local dealership arriving in June/July. Dealership was able to order me a specific build with the options I asked for, which everybody here told me was not possible anymore. All the other dealerships declined but this particular dealership said that because they do so much volume Toyota allows them to order specific vehicles. Do you think I've got any chance of getting a discount considering I've ordered this specific truck and they know i can't just go to another dealer and get the same? I'm guessing they'll flat out refuse. Anyone had any luck getting decent discounts around the Austin/San Antonio/Dallas/Houston area? Maybe I need to bluff and act like i'm thinking of changing my mind and be prepared to walk out.

Are you sure it’s actually been allocated and equipped how you want? Toyota doesn’t do custom orders, dealer is probably telling you they can order, just to take you out of the market with a deposit.

You can tell the dealership exactly what you want and that dealership can place an order, but you can't ask for anything that the system doesn't allow for. An example would be a 2025 Tacoma TRD Pro in Red. It's not an option online, so a dealership can't order a TRD Pro in Red.

Yes i'm sure. They did a custom order for me. Guess i'm special haha. It's showing on the Toyota inventory website already with the exact options I ordered. Deposit is 100% refundable at any time. I think they genuinely are just trying to help me get what I want.

Correct, they would not have let me do anything that I could not select as an option on the website when you build a truck. For example I wanted a TRD OR but with the color matched door handles and fender flares instead of black ones but they would not do that as it's not an option on the website. But they let me choose the color I wanted in a TRD OR, manual transmission and all the options I wanted like backlit Toyota emblem/badge, sway bar disconnect mechanism, TRD OR upgrade package, black side steps etc. They said they would usually just find me one from another dealer somewhere in the country but the options I selected are rare apparently they don't build many with the sway bar disconnect that don't have the premium upgrade and they couldn't find exactly what I wanted so they ordered it from Toyota.

So I bit the bullet, they knocked another 500 off and gave me 33k for my trade. I paid 33400 plus tax and 900 doc fee when I bought my existing truck 7 months ago so I lost about 1300 for a truck I put 6k miles on. I didn't have it long, but it needed new tires and the power steering fluid has been seeping, which I am told is a 2k repair. Felt like it was time to jump to the new gen. Not sure I am in love with the interior but the powertrain is night and day. 3400 off MSRP, which isn't amazing, but given the tax savings on the trade in and the value I didnt expect much more. What is everyone thoughts on the platinum warranty they sell that extends everything to 7 years 75k?

Several posts about extended warranty being purchased through a guy named Troy. Shop around, it doesn't have to be purchased at the dealership where you bought the truck. Congrats on the new truck.
