Blonde/Brown poles have Creo for pickle juice. New stuff isn't as toxic as the old stuff, thus doesn't work as good as the old stuff.
Don't get Creosote on yer skin. Burns nasty. Even the dust burns when it gets down a sweaty t-shirt. Don't ask me how I know.
Green poles are PT. Little bit of Arsenic won't kill ya, right?

As others said, put some gravel in, shim it with rocks, back fill and call it a day.

I would overkill it and put 4 in the ground..

DO NOT sink any kind of wood in concrete. The knucklehead who put in a split rail fence at my old place did. Majority of posts rotted and required digging a bag of concrete for every post replaced.:bananadead:

This pole is green. Was laying down in my front yard when we bought the place and nobody came to get it. I just cut it up and now I have 30 feet of 10" diameter telephone pole.

I'll try to dig more but getting the rocks out is a pita.

My house has all the good building materials. Arsenic, lead, witchcraft

Depending on the pole size, we would sink them anywhere from 5 1/2 feet to 9-10 feet.
The little brand stenciled on the side of the pole about eye level tells what the pole is made out of, length and class (diameter).

Maybe the 2 part mix in the bag expanding foam?
I've used it for cedar fence posts. Wouldn't use it for a deck but might be adequate and quick for your purpose

I was thinking 3 to make it stable side to side too, it's only holding some chickens. Chances are it's only going to be 2-3 years and then he'll be replacing it with something bigger, or give up on the chickens :p

This is RI, that's definitely been hit by cars so many times it's illegible.

Nice try Rob. I built this so I can build an identical one next to it and knock out the middle wall. Go from a 4x8 coop to a 4x16 coop.

I know how chicken math works.

I can't believe my son Jacob is 16yo today. I am so proud of him! He is so smart and talented. Not only is it his B-day today but he's getting inducted into the national honor society tonight. And then he gets to play the saxophone at the hatch shell in Boston on Sunday!
    I am so excited!

Just need to close the gables, flash the rakes, and get the tin on top. Doing this solo.in the woods has been... challenging. Getting the full sheets up onto the trusses about killed me.

This thing is hilariously overbuilt because I don't ever want to have to think about it again.

Thanks guys and I'll pass all the likes and well wishes on to him. The license thing is scary but he's very responsible so I know in my heart he'll do fine. As far as him growing up on here with you guys, oh yeah 1000%!

Just watch 20 seconds into this video and you'll see him strapped in his car seat while we are wheeling with some old TW buddies

Speaking of blast from the past, how the hell are ya Cam? You're going to be able to do any meet ups this summer and come off of the island?

Frost line is a consideration but I just put the dog run on top of a 4x4 square and used hardware mesh to keep it predator proof. It hasn’t moved even with some windy storms.

no idea but I reckon 2’ is plenty. I did 0’ and it’s been fine lol

Same, I have a 8x8 shed that is sitting on like 6” of stone, a concrete block above ground and the 6x6 corner posts are directly on the blocks. Unless you’re in an area you know heaves heavily, I wouldn’t worry about frost heaves for a chicken coop.
