I think you need to look at this within perspective of the vehicle itself. No one here is claiming these are amazing sounding engines. But an EL set up sounds much better than stock or an aftermarket UEL set up....

Also big blocks sound nasty lower displacement higher rpm engines all day. Especially anything straight 6

Must have been enough torque to twist the chassis coming off the line

OP do you know how long the j pipes are? Does it drone at all, even if you’re going up an incline on the highway? Mines got a slight resonance peak around 2200 rpm and it’ll drone at that rpm if I’m going up an incline on the highway, wondering if a j pipe would help and the length needed

Are you talking about the Helmholtz resonators? I’d give dirtydeeds a call about the exact placement and size of those, as tossing them in randomly can have some adverse effects

Yeah the Helmholtz. Yeah I was thinking I would need to call DDI for the exact specs. But you have no drone right?

Id say its pretty drone free. Ive always had louder cars so its hard for me to really judge, but it seems very tame.

Thanks, it’s very simple actually, all the piping/cats are stock except the passenger side has a 360 bend in it to match the driver side y pipe length. Id only do it on a 2wd like mine because I’m not sure if it would fit with a transfer case in the way, and 4wds need the y pipe redone regardless due to the way it’s routed under the crossmember reducing ground clearance. The muffler is a small borla bullet #401392 and it has a small vibrant resonator in front of the muffler, which I plan to swap with a Helmholtz resonator because right now it has a loud resonance (drone) between 2-3k rpm’s and the exhaust gets too quiet after 3 k rpm, I’m hoping the Helmholtz will cancel out the 2-3k drone and deleting the vibrant resonator will make the exhaust louder in the higher rpm’s IMG_4934.jpgIMG_4935.jpg

I need to get my system sorted out a little better.. mismatched pipe diameters and one really bad crushed pipe from when I gutted the secondaries. Hope it sounds as nice as yours when I get it working right

Lol it’s a never ending cycle. I’ve been to my muffler shop like 4 times to tweak stuff, it’s kinda hard to get these to sound perfect

I need to show this thread to the old dude at work who was insisting he was about to get another 25 hp from adding trd exhaust because he had the intake and that was 15. so he's pushing over 300 hp now and with a pedal commander he can't even drive it without squaling (not sure how to spell whatever it was he was saying) the tairs.
I miss my real truck :(
