Shop Time w/T.W. Friends

I suspect this is a bullet... non magnetic and failed to set off my metal detector. Luckily I found it with the band saw blade and not a planer blade.

 

I have no scientific way to measure the noise levels and I always wear eye and hearing protection, but I feel it has definitely reduced the noise level. As I mentioned in an earlier post, it also provided me with an adapter for my jointer that I couldn't seem to find elsewhere, so it was worth it to me.

 

Metal detector should have picked it up.

 

A large chunk of cherry I found in the scrap pile.



Had to run it through the router sled to knock down a high corner that wouldn't fit in the band saw. Then sliced into 3 manageable pieces.



Ran the cherry through the planer to make them pretty.

 

Agreed it should have, but it didn't. It won't even pick it up now that it's exposed let alone 3 inches deep into the tree.

 

Send me your old one and see if it'll keep my garage floor clean!

 

They did turn out pretty!

Nice things to be found in the scrap pile.

 

Not all bullets have metal jackets. Hard cast lead is not uncommon in the bigger calibers, and lead by itself isn’t going to set off a metal detector.

Yesterday was a nice sunny Spring say with tremps in the 60s. Perfect. What’s the guess for the weekend, pretty much the entire week?
