    Hi beautiful community,
I have a 2007 Tacoma with the 4CL engine and automatic transmission, mileage 220k. so everyday when I first start it in the morning to go to work, I let it warm up for about 5 minutes, and then I start driving , but then my transmission would struggle to shift to 2nd gear. Unless I take RPM to 2k then it will shift. This only happens when it’s first time of day driving. Is this normal ? Anyone has this? Or is my transmission on its way out.

    I don’t think that’s normal.
How long have you had the truck, and when did you notice the problem?
Sorry to hear about the trouble, but there’s plenty of guys here who can help you out.

Start with a transmission drain & refill.

A slow first shift of the day isn't uncommon for older high mileage automatics. Just like older people they seem to get a bit stiff when sitting but work OK after warming up.

    Agreed - I'd drain it.
Drop the pan and clean it and the pick up tube.
    Refill it.

Shifting gears at 2K seems about right to me.

Probably not, but if it is changing the fluid at this point will speed up the process. I'd save my money and drive it till it dies. Chances are you've got another 100,000 miles with that transmission.
