I wanted to go ahead and upgrade my suspension while I'm stuck in Florida and I cant wheel anything technical for a bit. I have a 2011 Tacoma, 33s and the most stock suspension upgrade you can get those underneath with. I have a of of experience wheeling and now the suspension is going out so I want to upgrade.

I notice that these "M/L arm travel" kits are pretty pricey and I am wondering if anyone with experience can point me in the right direction. My goal is get my truck to be able to handle harder trails out west and be able to crawl with some more ease as well as fit those tires a lot nicer. I don't need to be wheeling the stuff a designated crawler would but I love the technical stuff any day.

What level of difficulty trails out west here are you thinking of running?

Also, what is your budget? ($1.5K? $3K? $5-7K?)

Lots of options are available, but some certainly are better than others for a given use / trail difficulty...

Do you already have F&R locking differentials (those will improve your offroad ability much more than any lift/tire combo will).

Don’t forget a crawlbox, I hardly engage my lockers.

A crawbox is awesome for sure, especially if you have a manual trans (it's almost mandatory, even). Automatics are a little more-tolerable to drive without a box, but certainly it still helps there too (keeps the trans from heating up as much / gives you greater control while slowly going over a big rock).

But between lockers, and the typical 2" lift & tires we see on here, lockers can get you a lot farther.
