Thats true, but we bought it because we had a run of bad mowers that always broke down.. this one won't. Starts every time lol

I've been on her for a couple years now, she finally figured out that money = stuff. So she negotiated payment first. Which I am proud of.. she's smart, and stubborn. She'll go far

my mower saga has gotten more or less interesting. across 3 mowers, i've got 1 crummy chassis, 2 great chassis', 2 great-running motors, and 1 transmission.

the old craftsman/sears mower is apocalypse-worthy. a new carb and spark plug fixed most of it's running issues. a little seafoam and an oil change, it'll run like clockwork. except for the rust.

the troybilt, has a bad pinion with what feels to be missing teeth. a new carb and plug means the motor now runs strong.

the ariens will never run--it hole-punched the cylinder wall, and the hydrostatic trans is leaking/weeping. it's anyone's guess how long the trans will last without a full rebuild of at least the shaft seals. but the chassis is the nicest out of all of them...

but to combine frames and transmissions to one good/great model, the sears is a manual 6-speed trans, the troybilt is a cvt automatic, and the ariens is a hydrostatic. i'm debating if i can rejigger the ariens deck height control to be used for the manual-gear selector of the craftsman, but the linkage length stuff is going to make me take math class again.

i did kick together a quick hitch mount setup for the sears to get my trailer moved around enough to at least mow the yard though!

the immigration paperwork is a bit of a hassle though!

i've got far too many miles into manual mowers. my brother and i started a lawn business in high school, and to do so, we bought some used mowers from an equipment rental place for almost scrap-price. the side effect was we also offered mosquito fogging, and never needed to change the oil! i ran the wheels off them over 2 years, and then my brother continued another year or two after that.

Growing up, riders weren’t a thing and you had to have acreage to have any sort of tractor. I had never heard of self-propelled until I went to buy my first mower.

I guess I’ve been blessed. There’s a 16 year gap from my daughter to my oldest son…wasn’t our plan, lots of miscarriages, until our miracle son was born. Any who…I owned a landscape maintenance and construction company as they were growing up. Boys grew up riding in a Kelty kids backpack and earmuffs as I was maintaining properties. Daughter would help on the weekends by mowing and edging with the weedeater. She was dang good at producing straight lines. Sometimes she would help on the weekdays…like when she got in trouble at school. Then she had to weedeat the dreaded hill. A steep section of field grass that had to be maintained monthly. She didn’t get a n trouble much…As they grew both boys took over the remaining jobs after I transitioned into education. Im pretty proud of them. They all have an incredible work ethic.
