I have rode ours half a mile up the road to a friends old place when his mower was broken for about a month.

I thought some one was burning brush a few doors down from my house yesterday,it was pollen blowing off the large hemlock/ pine trees on my property line

 

Pollen clouds are Normal spring early summer sighting around here.

 

It just hasn’t been this bad in a few years here .

 

Ya i heard it was bad near Buffalo.

 

Other side of the state from me but it must be bad all over I’m sure . I start taking Claritin-D around the beginning of April until June .

You getting lightning strikes where you are?

A half hour ago there was a bright flash followed almost instantly by a triple thunderclap.
It shook the house, but good

It had to be pretty close, and I'm curious to see where it hit.
Hope no one was hurt.
No sirens or anything, so probably not.

We see a lot of lightning strikes on the mountainside.
Storm clouds pile up against the mountain and after a while they let loose.

Our house was hit once... before Mrs Gritto and I moved in.
The story is, it struck the chimney and went straight down the massive hearth (made of local fieldstones) and so to earth.
It scorched slightly the catwalk railings... which you can still see.
Oddly enough, the exact same thing happened to the house across the street, several years ago.
That one we did witness.
The volunteer fire department were there pretty darn quick and damage was minimal.

Story time:

My house in Tampa got hit when I was in HS
I had just stepped out of the shower and heard the pipes/water crackle as it happened

My house in Coral Springs also got hit, that one was worse . . .
I had just hung up the landline phone and was luckily already on the floor
It hit the roof, flat tile, left a scorch mark
It tripped the main breaker to the house
It melted part of the garage door opener circuit board
AND it fucked up my Civic electronics [a 1997 so nothing fancy] so bad it had to be flat bedded to Honda

 

In all honesty, again, I forgot it was my birthday until my sister mentioned it. BDayz aren’t a big deal. Not having birthdays is a big deal!!

 

I just refreshed the msn weather page and it says lightning strike detected...

Dude. I do this every week cutting my sisters lawn on the same street. People are used to it now. I tell them I’m headed to the Circle K and ask if they need beer. Of course imma smokin’ a cig at the time.
