Paint issue on 25’Silver TRD OR.

Regardless what the call back time frame was that they stated, ide be shocked if theyre actually on it & do it....
If you dont hear anything, Call them Friday morning...
Tell them your case#, you didnt get a call within their promised time-frame & youre requesting a call back from your rep...
Need to stay on top of it, be the annoying rat terrier......

I was optimistic when they said "they have to call you back by x# od days"
But few times, they didnt....

Theyre back-logged as I stated & 1-2 girls are handling it all, one was out during my entire process if I remember correctly.
My rep apologized for the time delay, explained all this to me, that she had alot of claims & she was flying solo..

 

Just got a call from my dealership. Toyota corporate will look at my rig tomorrow. Calibrate the paint applied. And….

 

Wow, moving quick, they must be tired of looking bad on the forums...

throw a piece on every panel where theres the defect...
Before you leave the dealership point out all the areas to the writer & manager...
Reason a mention this, if he sees only 1 panel he may suggest painting it.
My FSE demanded they wet sand all my panels but leave the roof as is,
I said F you, nope......

My FSE had tunnel vision...

Assuming they told you to drop it off in the morning & they will give you a free rental?

 

Almost sounds like they want to measure paint thickness.

 

Everyone I helped with this matter had to go through this hoop jumping....
FST / FSE, whatever toyota calls the toolbag....
Comes out, analyzes where the errors occurred, as you mentioned, measures paint thickness, etc...
Then he tells the service dept his recommendation to resolve the issue.
Then he documents his finding to corporate data base / your claim...
Weeks, months later, the claims adjuster & the FS? have a meeting in person about the situation.
They present the situation / findings to their attorneys & attorneys respond with their findings, protocol, etc..
They present it to you, & if youre ok with it, more waiting....

 

The paint can be within standard thickness but if not applied correctly it will still look like crap.

Theyre not going to offer him a repaint....
If they do, he can deny & still demand buy back...
Clearly & politely say I didnt pay $50k for a brand new truck to be repainted, you guys paint it do whatever you want to do with your truck, I dont want it.....

As stated, I helped a guy on here the just had flat black orange peeled paint on his limited that had painted fender flares.
the fender flare paint was his issues.....
They bought the truck back, the FF could have Easily been repainted.....

May have not got it back yet at this point, but manager or writer comment anything about the FSE's thoughts, comments, suggestions, etc....

 

I signed the release for corporate to inspect the paint. They took the truck back in the shop and did what they do??? I was told they will be in touch. They had it for 40 min.

 

so no comments by manager or writer on anything the fst stated?
As I already stated.
Manager told me the fse was recommending wet-sanding my clear-coat & going from there,
Manager also told me off the record, not a good idea which I already knew that....

Obviously thats not the fix for yours, Im just conveying that they communicated stuff to me & it wasnt top secret information...

 

The metallic black paint on my 2020 trd or premium 4runner was so thin it only had one side to it. Also, it was like it never fully cured. It didn't matter how much sealant I layered on debris always found its way embedded into the clear.

 

The other guy I assisted with a buy back with the black truck, claims a california duster would put scratches all through-out his black...
He thought it was overly soft....

 

Yep, same soft paint issue. Aside from that I wish I had kept it.

definitely calling when I get back in town next Wednesday.
I’ll let you all know what bait they throw at me. I pretty much have 3 options in my mind I’d consider. Not going to divulge just yet.
That said, I was in Boise Idaho yesterday and got to look at two silvers. Hoods looked perfectly fine but a new imax with a lift had a blochy bed painting. ?

 

Theyre only going to throw 1 option at you, BUYBACK buddy....

 

Buy back or repaint?

 

Have two calls into service manager this week and no callback…. I won’t be excepting a repaint.

 

Thanks for the update! I wouldn’t accept a repaint either you bought a new truck not a repainted one.
