    This and that
Had blackout badges come with the truck, liked em, didn’t like the dirt, pulled them, replaced with black vinyl stickers, pulled them. It’s all naked now.

No, not that I'm aware of. That Hurst ball is actually for a 2015-'24 Mustang, but it has the correct shift pattern and thread pitch for 3rd Gen Tacoma's. I also got it for a very good price. However, it does have a large counterbore in the bottom of it for the reverse lockout lever on the Ford. I wanted to attach that shift ball with some sort of jam nut, but also I wanted something to retain the shift boot to the bottom of it since that's held on to part of the factory knob that I was removing. I also wanted to fill in that large counterbore on the bottom of the ball and match the ball's radius to look clean.

I paper-napkined a sketch, drew it up in CAD and turned that one out of a piece of aluminum on the lathe. Milled a couple wrench flats on the bottom boot retainer, bead-blasted and painted it with some black wrinkle paint. It came out pretty well. I'd bet someone savvy with a 3D printer could probably print one with the texture already in it in any color they wanted.

Damn. That’s bad ass. You ever see one of Rick’s knobs? I can’t think of his member name because it was complicated. He turned a bunch of knobs and sold them here on tw. I’ve had two, one was stainless (too heavy for my taste) and now I have an aluminum version. I’ll get you a pic sooner.

Not that I remember, but I have looked through quite a bit here. Honestly, I liked it because of the "Hurst" on the sides. I grew up when the big 3's muscle cars were all over the place. I can't recall how many different Chevelles, Novas, Road Runners, etc. (no Fords! lol) my dad & his brothers had that all seemed to have miles of dark vinyl with a big, white or ivory Hurst shifter planted in the middle of the floor. That by itself puts a smile on my face :).

Was wanting to do something to the truck really bad. Decided to remove the softopper and ordered some paracord.

Really cheap and fun mod. Removed all the grab handles and wrapped them in a style you would a knife handle. Color is called Captain America lol

Put solar panels on my new to me tent. Cleaned up the cabling and then had to run to the depot for some house stuff. Always fun trying to figure out how to use a truck like a like with camping gear on all the time, ha.

I made it home just fine though.

Hey Jan, I see you went with 32" tires 255/75R17 SL load. How was the fit on your truck? How does your truck handle with the skinnies? Did you also change your spare? I see they are on sale at CT for a good price. I'm considering these amongst others.

EDIT* Oooops, looks like you have 16" wheels. I thought they were 17". 255/75R16 are 31.1

They make a 32" for my 17" wheel. Thinking of 32" tires as I already have 31.5"

    Some changes to the truck.
Fog lights, ditch lights (not a super fan) and 4runner limited wheels! A softopper to replace the aluminum ARE.

That looks great! For my taste a flat black would be where it’s at…but I think it looks great! My Tacoma decal is a flat black so I think it would blend in well…now I have something else to do! Do you have a link?

I originally intended to purchase in flat black so it would match the flares, however, I decided to go with gloss as I thought it looked more premium. The mirror caps were directly from my local Toyota dealership and the handles are from TrimIllusion, they snap on and have adhesive.

Cleaned up the wiring to the fuse block, added under the hood lighting (I’ll get a pic at night), and ran the wiring for the flush mount bumper leds.

If you're planning on adding accessories just do it. It'll keep things much tidier and it's not hard at all. I sourced all the parts for it on Amazon. I should have done this on my 2nd Gen Taco and my 5th Gen 4R.

I'm undecided about the door handles, but love everything else, I really think the mirror caps look great against the dark tint... All in all, great job and look...:thumbsup:
