Does anyone know when/how often Toyota updates their inventory on their official website. I've been thinking of "downgrading" to the non-hybrid OR and have been searching for two months for one with an upgrade package and no moon roof. Seems like every one that I've seen in bronze oxide has a moon roof. Even contemplated getting terra or white but all those seem to have it too. I'm in SET region if that makes any difference. I'm wondering if Toyota thinks with summer around the corner every one wants a moon roof? I just look at it as something else to break or leak in the long run. Sucks we can't custom order options.

Rather than wait for a new Tacoma with the exact features you want to show up in someones inventory, you can talk to your dealer and look at what is in their current allocation, going out for a month or two. If they have a model that is very close to what you are looking for, you can ask them to request the factory to modify the configuration to match what you want, in this case removing the moon roof.

I did that with my new Tacoma, they had one coming in that was very close to what I was looking for except for the interior color. I didn't want black, I preferred the boulder interior color. Also asked them to add the bed cover. They requested the changes and the next day Toyota confirmed that the allocation had been modified.

I had a deposit with the dealer for a Tacoma with my specified options, so a dealer may not be willing to make a change to a truck that is coming in unless you make a similar commitment. In my case the deposit was fully refundable so I wasn't really taking any risk.

I had talked in detail with two different local dealers and this was not something that my closest dealer had even suggested, but in my case this is exactly how it played out and in the end I purchased a Tacoma that was exactly what I was looking for.

It did take several months from the time I placed my deposit until the truck arrived, which was completely fine with me as i was in no hurry.

In other words I did essentially special order my truck, so when the dealer tells you that you can't do that, it may be correct strictly speaking, but there is a way to get what you want by keeping an eye on what the dealer will be receiving within the next few months and then making a request to modify one of them. Some dealers may not be as flexible in doing this, but others certainly are.

Can't help with how often the site updates, but also consider searching outside SETD territory. Looks like Toyota of Cleveland TN has an icecap with OR Upgrade but not moonroof. Link

As someone considering an OffRoad hybrid, might I ask why you're looking to switch away from the hybrid?

Lastly - for what it's worth, my 2017 3rd gen OR with moonroof has been problem (and leak) free in the over eight years I've owned it, and it's always parked outside. I do clean things up once a year, and ensure the drain tubes are clear (bit of weed whacker line works well)

Thank you @MagnoliaPhil , lll reach out to my preferred salesman to see if he can do that. That gives me a little bit of hope that I can get what I'm looking for.

@gpb I think when I first started researching, the 465 ft lbs of torque really grabbed my attention. I don't have anything to tow currently, but it it kind of seemed like a no brainer. I think what I was hoping for was more of a KERS device versus a hybrid drivetrain. I think in practice, the the non-hybrid would suit me better and performance wise I think is mostly equivalent to the hybrid due to the weight savings. Plus with the OTT tune available.. I would just like to simplify things, hence not getting the hybrid, not getting a moon roof, etc.

Yea, I've been pulling that every few days and dumping it into a spreadsheet I have to filter it better, but nothing close enough for my dealer to do an inventory swap. Thanks for the link though.

Dealerships get their new allocations on the 1st and 15th. Not sure how long it takes for the websites to update.

Oh, that is sweet. Bookmarked. Thanks!

I appreciate the detail. I've test driven the non-hybrid and hybrid back to back and felt there was a noticeable difference, particularly that the hybrid had instant power for acceleration in traffic and the non-hybrid had a distinct turbo lag. I imagine probably less noticeable in highway or rural driving, but in ATL traffic... (and then I climbed back into my 3rd gen... LOL)

Yes, it's definitely missing SET data - there's at least two on-the-lot trucks I know of which aren't showing.

Is there a version of this which pulls the build-phase trucks as well?

Not for at least a year or so. There use to be but Toyota put a stop to it.

    That's unfortunate.

Thankfully I'm in a position where I don't have to buy, I can wait.

Not sure if you are willing to travel and where you are located but this one seems like it is what you are looking for. It's in production and located in the Northern part of WV but they do have a location in Charleston that they could probably get transferred down and make the trip a little shorter. You may be able to have your dealer work a trade with them when it gets closer to delivery. It's not expected until mid June though.

That is! And it's SET I believe since it's in South Carolina. How did you find that? Toyota website or local to you? Thank you

This one in in West Virginia which I believe is Mid Atlantic Toyota and not SET. Morgantown WV is about 2 hours away from me but that dealership also has a location about 15 minutes away and I bought a couple Toyota's and a Lexus from them so I am always looking at their inventory. I hope it works out for you.

Another thought - consider using a broker such as Jim Rouleau to find the truck and make you a deal.

Several TacomaWorld people have used him (click here), and he has a strong following on LeaseHacker.

See his post here for how it works, and then tons of reviews at this link.

When I decide to buy a '25 (and decide what config), I will give him a try. He seems to be pretty busy so be ready to get to business without a bunch of faff.
