What does that step look like stowed? I have been thinking about getting one.

Tucks up tightly. Light step down to extend, medium toe kick to retract.

FWIW, while lots of SETD trucks have them, they're listed in the Toyota.com 2025 tacoma accessories catalog and available to add when I'm doing mock builds outside of SETD territory (TN & PA)

I've loved having a bed step on my 3rd gen and will definitely put on a 4th gen.

Just hate that they swapped sides - driver side is more convenient for my parking situation.

If you have a bed step you can only have one tow hook? Not saying that one tow hook is not sufficient.

They came on my '24. I wouldn't have spec'd them, but they seem extremely beefy, and attach via two large bolts/nuts through the boxed frame rails.

Yes. They use the same mounting point. There's one company I saw working on an offset bracket and altered step mount to get both in place.

If I never have to use the recovery points on the truck, I'll be happy, but I'm not doing regular ORV activities.

You can't run the ARB (or other?) tow hooks with the step as there isn't enough clearance for the step. You need an offset bracket from SXTH to move the step away from the passenger side tow bracket and further toward the passenger side edge of the truck.

So you would purchase and have someone else install a red thingy charading as a recovery point on your vehicle even if it was not capable or safe of performing a potentially deadly operation?

I meant they look good but I have no idea if they’re really functional.
