    I need some help.
Anything above 30% throttle I am getting a surging issue and losing power. My wideband is dropping to 10.0 AFR. Way too rich . I’ve tried plugs, replacing the headgaskets, timing chains.

Bought a new MAF and TB today but the livestream showed they were functioning ok.

this happened after my upgrades. To a 2.7 pulley and headers it could be a coincidence.

Truck is fine is if I baby the throttle and I can keep 5lbs of boost in the 11 AFR range .

    Mods.
    TRD Flash
    TRD injectors
    URD 2.7 pulley
AEM 340lph pump (tried swapped 255 and did same)
    TRD injectors
    Afe intake
    Doug Thorley headers
    Secondary O2 deletes

any idea on what this could be ?

Are you getting any fault codes?

I have had coils cause a similar issue.

If I lay on the throttle and let it dump fuel I will get a cylinder 1 misfire , but it will go away. I assume that’s from the plug getting fouled out .

what were your coils doing ?

Causing random misfire under load and not triggering a fault code.
    Maybe bad injectors?
    Issue with the tune?

I was tempted to buy a 3 inch pulley and see if it changes things . I’m wondering if the trd tune does not like the headers

How was this done? I wonder if this could be causing issues on the TRD tune. It might want to see those

Same as the URD units .
A company in Europe is making them

Okay so the sensors are still there, but you’ve got o2 simulators. Cool, I didn’t realize there was a company in Europe making them.

i would start by unplugging those and see if there are any changes. The only codes you should get from not having them is p0420 and p0430, but there should be no drivability issues. Could be that they are making the ecu unhappy

ill try it . Its worth a shot and its free.
I want to see if anyone is running a 2.7 pulley and headers and having the same issue on a TRD ecu flash /injectors . Part of me is wondering the lack of Cats is too much for the ecu. I also burn up my primary O2s once a year since these mods .

Keep us posted. I ran the trd flash a while back with a 2.5 and headers and I didn’t have any issues. I think there’s something else at play here

I read that the HGs were replaced on your truck... have you checked for any vacuum leaks or smoke tested?

And did your truck pop CELs or foul upstream O2 sensors before the 2.7" and LT headers? Or did it run fine?

Did this problem only start after the 2.7 and LT headers? Were the downstream O2 eliminated at that time too? If not, when were those removed and the simulators added?

I'm running a 2.8 quick change pulley long tube headers (URD Spec-U with O2 sims), TRD injectors, a Deatschwerks 255Lph pump, and a JustDSM modified TRD tune. I know it's different than what you're running but have about 20k miles on this setup without any drivability issues.

Before throwing more money at parts I'd run some logs and share here or with JustDSM if it were my truck.

Anyone install the M90 Magnuson on both the Tacoma and FJ cruiser? I took my charger off of my 07 Tacoma along with pretty much 99.9% of the fit kit. I am going to install it on my new project 07 FJ cruiser. Same 4.0l, both of the engine bays are pretty much identical except for the FJ having a different brake master cylinder. I know there are different part numbers for the Fit Kits, anyone know if there's any major differences in the kits?

    Mahalo in advance

It doesn't seem much if at all actually. I do have the 3-4 sections that I cut off of the main pipe to tb. That may have alleviated some fitment issues.

The headlight vent guard at the bottom had to be trimmed. I went at it with some angled shears but do plan on cleaning it up. The anticipation of taking 2 whole days to install an intake was killing me lol

I do recall trimming the upper area even more after these pictures and cleaning up the maf wiring. I decided that under hard wot some clearance up top would be beneficial.

I am considering and have already planned to gusset and redo some sections of the core support as it flexes way too much and I already have the heat exchanger contacting the front support ever so slightly.. sigh
