Pieced together a Toyota Matrix steering wheel/air bag. I like the sporty flat bottom OEM wheel.

Did you have steering wheel controls before the switch?

Man I like that. Simple with a subtle sport look. I need more details, how was the wiring?

Build thread in sig... 4-link long travel
turned on a couple more dash lights yesterday by removing the ABS unit. Replaced it with a couple of tees and an adjustable proportioning valve. brakes are already better, before tuning the front/rear bias.

It’s essentially plug and play for a 05-11 Tacoma.

The only difference is that the Matrix wheel has the horn ground plugged into the radio control connector, where on the Tacoma it is tied in with the cruise control connector. Easy fix you just swap over the Tacoma cruise control+cable to the Matrix wheel. The matrix wheel came with a cruise stalk but it has slightly different part number. It’s possible it may have worked and I could’ve just swapped over the Tacoma harness only, but I didn’t bother trying.

The airbag is from a 2010-2013 Matrix. They are very hard to find from salvage yards or eBay. The same steering wheel/airbag is found on the elusive 2010-2013 timeframe Corolla “S”. But those are even harder to find used.

Steering wheel is supposedly OEM surplus for a Matrix with an upgraded interior package.

I can’t remember the airbag part# but this is the type of airbag linked below. A standard corolla airbag won’t work so again, has to be either the Matrix airbag or a Corolla S for the sport wheel. I bought mine from Benzeen auto parts salvage yard for like $235 after making a counteroffer. They had only 1 in the yard.

Did you plug it with something first before you put the JB on it? because that's impressive.

Installed my ECGS bushing. It went much easier than I thought it would.

We’ll see if that roaring goes away.
