Evening comes and my internal clock is feeling it.

Mom is getting dinner ready; baked chicken salad.

My step dad is on strict diet…he’s got some health issues with potassium & sodium being his enemies.

At least I can watch the Kings game at 7pm instead of 10pm. lol

Time to open up a beer!

Yeah, the day’s activities worked out well yesterday.

We were limited on time at Griffith Observatory otherwise we could have walked to the “Hollywood” sign.

We got to Santa Monica Pier before 3pm which was great timing…so by the time we parked and walked to the pier, wife and I were very hungry!

After eating at Bubba Gump, we walked to the end of the pier and bought some Knick Knacks (Magnets for fridge).

We closed out the trek to LA by visiting my sister in Alhambra…traffic was its usual self for a Friday.

Today, I got an Air Force buddy who lives in Huntington Beach that wants to meet up.

My sister wants to meet up again so we will probably spend the later part of the day with her.

Sunday will be spent with my Mom & step Dad by going to church with them. After service is over, my Aunt wants to take us out to brunch/dinner.

Monday will be our last full day here and requires one last trip to the city.

I can see why my Mom moved out of LA to the Inland Empire to get away from densely populated area.

The only problem…the population moved with her and now the Inland Empire is more populated than it was 30 years ago when she first moved out here! lol

I can summarize by saying, “I’m glad I can visit but happy I don’t live in SoCal.” lol

We are gonna drive into LA…this time, Huntington Beach to meet up with my Air Force buddy…should have late lunch with him.

Saving the latter part of the day for my sister…who we briefly saw yesterday.

She’s going through much Life’s challenges and vents quite a bit about our mother. lol

Anyway, fellowship with Mom & Step Dad always leads to talking about “getting older” and “finances.” lol

Wife & I always learn something when we leave.

I’ve got my dress trousers/shirt hanging out for church tomorrow. Wife/me will have brunch with my aunt afterwards and then have a chill day once we get back to Mom/Dad’s.

Wife/me are still a little jet-lagged but just as we are getting adjusted, we will be flying back to the east coast.

Happy Sunday

Yesterday turned out to be a nice day: morning fellowship with mom/dad then drove to Seal Beach instead of Huntington Beach to meet up with my Air Force buddy.

Arturo brought his wife, which was nice because last time we were visited, she couldn't make it.

We had a nice early dinner and chatted about family and of course, Arturo & me about our past experiences in the USAF.

Once we said our goodbyes, off we went to my sister's apartment for a consecutive evening visit.

This morning is time to meet Mom/Dad's congregation and settle in for church service.

Once service is over, we will meet up with my Aunt to enjoy Brunch and have some fellowship with her.

The rest of the day will pretty much be kickback and more-than-likely will lead to finding more old photos we will be taking home.

I caught the Dodgers game last night at 10pm...apparently, there was a 3.5hr rain delay so the game ended after 1am EST.

Dodgers win and currently hold the Best Record In Baseball.

With time constraints, we try and do as much as SAFELY possible while here.

Of course, there are family dynamics with our elders…my sister, on the other hand…is a different ball of wax! lol

Welp, church was fun meeting all Mom & Dad's congregation members--singing for 35 mins then sermon.

Had brunch with my aunt & uncle...that went well too.

I feel a nap coming on.

Our last full day is tomorrow.

Our time here has flown by and there is one last task I need to complete that requires final drive into LA.

After that, I’ll take my wife to get some real Mexican Food at El Tepeyak.

This is how we will celebrate Cinco de Mayo! lol

It’s also time to check-in and get our boarding passes this morning.

Had to drop by and see Desk Sgt at LAPD...wife was holding onto her seat as the LA driver in me came out! lol

No trouble or anything to worry about...had some family matter to attend to.

Did the lunch/dinner thing at El Tepeyak on Evergreen St...some real Mexican Food!

My sister and her daughter...and grand-daughter joined in with wife/me.

Sis & me always have a good laugh about our childhood years; of course it was dysfunctional but we laugh about it...a lot.

Took the 101, to the 10E, to the 605N, to the 210E and viola! Back to the Inland Empire. lol

Doing last load of laundry and pre-packing...we are set!

Hey RW.

Yeah, things are Fast & Furious at times when we visit SoCal/LA.

Makes for a quick visit with some sort of planning…Friday was spontaneous day and look at how much we did!

So, I’m up before my alarm; went to bed just before 11pm and I’m up at 6am.

We got to drop the rental off and jump on a shuttle to get to security checkpoint. Ontario airport is small so it doesn’t take very long to get around.

See you all back on the east coast! lol

Ed - sounds like a great trip! Glad you had safe travels and got to spend time with family.

We got back from our trip Saturday night, but I don't think I prepped for our return quite as well as you did - I've been playing catch up for the last several days. Finally found my "lost" wallet today tho on top of one of the dog's crates, so I figured I could spare a minute to check in with y'all. I planned on staying active on the forum even while on vacation but between the kids and the time change I could barely keep up. But I'm back! Hope everyone's having a good week so far.

I've always been the pen pal ever since I met/married my wife. (1989)

I tell a lie...I first started receiving Hello Kitty letters from cute girls beginning in Jr High (1979-82).

My penmanship improved quite a bit (probably because I wanted to impress said, cute girls) lol.

So, this makes it easy for me to write/type my thoughts...so I creatively find time to post on TW.

I've had past experience on Forums (started in 2011) so the culture is something I try to acclimate/adjust myself.
