High clearance bumper usually moves the hitch up. If you have a low trailer, you'd use a ball mount with greater drop to keep the trailer level.

HC bumper is still the first to hit on steep climbs and ledges, but at steeper angles. I have a 4" lift, 35" tires, and the HC bumper still scrapes in Concession Lake and Ardbeg offshoots.

The tire can stay at the stock location as the tire can support the vehicle weight just fine. If you are worried about cuts and abrasion, just carry it deflated.

For towing a high clearance bumper is the new hitch. I have towed some heavy loads when I had my high clearance.

With the high clearance your dual swing outs may get in the way but with an extension you can hall bikes or a trailer. Your tire and/or rear shackles may be the next victim of getting hit. But it just depends on the trails you are wanting to run.

second coastal off-road. Haven’t personally dealt with them but they have a nice product. Also maybe @Trdtacosauce may have something in the works….

Thanks all for the many replies! I have not really set a budget, as I did not really have an idea what the price range is.
I was leaning towards this one initially https://www.victory4x4.com/product/VT3RS.html - but like to stay away from ordering from the US if possible because of shipping.

The Coastal OffRoad does look like a great option as well, but I can't weld (at least not good enough that I would trust the bumper, and I have a crappy CT welder).

I'll do some more research - appreciate all the feedback!

    For anyone here $1500
Specs and details are on FB I posted them high on FB because Part of me wants to just hold on to them another year and see whats actually required for family camping now. Dog+baby is going to be a tight fit in the tacoma. BUT we will see this weekend!

Or if time permits maybe i make them fit on the Tacoma.

My front bumper was the first thing i ever welded, and Used a Dirt cheap flux core welder (like $150). a 120v CT welder might be a little under powered for building the bumper, But there are some Cheap ones on Amazon that are fully capable.
https://amzn.to/4549wu7 <- this $400 welder impressed me. I built a coastal bumper with it and was not underpowered. The kits are kinda fun to build you might enjoy it.

I would love to learn how to properly weld. I might go for the kit after all, get a better welder and see if someone here is willing to guide me...
Also "A grinder and paint makes me the welder I ain't :D"

Gonna do some more research and, erm, "talk to the boss" :anonymous:

I can certainly help you by adding nothing and not actually helping. Maybe the occasional, "you got this, champ"

Give yourself more credit. You hold beer really well.

Im willing to offer guidance for sure, but cant promise i have time to actually help build one. Also the rear bumper is easier then a front bumper.

Coastal offroad also does 10%-15% off sales every November for black friday. Recently been doing some 10-10% sales every few months. if there's no rush might be worth waiting. Probably a Canada day sale coming up.
