Took my 2020 Trd sport to dealer today to get this rear diff whine checked out. Can someone confirm that this TSB fix does not apply to me since for me the whine goes away if I let off the gas pedal? As soon as I push down again it comes back. Dealer is saying bearings.

    Confirm the condition exists.
Does the vehicle exhibit a whine noise from the rear of the vehicle while driving around 50 mph (80 kph) at constant speed, slight acceleration, or slight deceleration?

So what does slight deceleration mean here? The noise def dies down/goes away when gas pedal not engaged.

Some 2019 – 2023 model year Tacoma Double Cab vehicles may exhibit a whine noise from the
rear of the vehicle. This condition may occur while driving around 50 mph (80 kph) at constant
speed, slight acceleration, or slight deceleration.Looks like the warranty for that is

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
I've experienced this with both my previous '06 TRD OR and my current '21 TRD OR.
Only under light acceleration on a level road. Seems to be normal and has never triggered any repairs.

Mine could be whining but between the roof rack wind noise and tire noise I will never know.

Pretty sure mine is fuel pump whine. It’s done it since brand new and can only hear it with all windows open at low speeds.

I changed the gear oil in the rear diff @ 54k and the whine disappeared. My belief is that the oil level was a bit low from the factory.

This is "feathering" the accelerator between slightly accelerating and slightly decelerating. Gas pedal is engaged slightly - not off the pedal in both cases.

My 2021 OR did it before I put on noisy tires.

My '21 access cab trd off road whined from the factory - I took it back to them after about 500kms (new) and they said it was full of metal and they replaced the entire rear diff under warranty. The new one still whines when I do exactly what you do, they checked it over and said it was fine. Just something I've gotten used to.

My '21 OR had it since new. I changed my diff oil at 30K with Redline 75W85 and the whine went away.

If you have ever seen them filling fluids on the line you'll realize it's a miracle they are anywhere close. Sure the exact measurement is known and some of those guys hit the mark exactly, but some of them pour like the hostess is having to man the bar. Over pouring and under pouring.

Got my diff replaced and it still whined went back in and had the tsb done and that took 90% of the whine away. I can live with it now.

Mine is faint, I chose to stick with the OE assembly, as they are known good.
