I rubbed against my truck in the driveway today only to find out that the whole front of the bed is flapping in the wind! The front panel support on the right side of the bed is completely rusted off! 48,000 and it’s rotted away! Bad enough my paint is falling off, now this. All of the bolts are going to have to be ground off!

I’m having trouble finding the correct part number. The ones I’ve seen are single and extended cab, excludes long bed!

How does that happen with only 48k miles?

Yes, that’s it, but the ones that I’ve seen never say double cab or long bed, just regular cab and extended cab. I have a double cab long bed. It may well be the correct part, but I haven’t been able to get it confirmed yet.

Yes, PA salt sucks! As you can tell from my mileage, I don’t drive it much. Typically in bad winter weather, trips to camp, and towing my boat.

How much trouble did you have replacing it? It looks like the fender flare has to be loosened to get to the bottom bolt. The bolts on top look pretty rusty too.

I can’t seem to get a confirmation on the correct part number. My local dealer makes you leave a message and they don’t call back. I need to confirm it fits DCLB.

This is the only info that I can find, and it excludes long bed.

Been awhile since I did it, but If I remember correctly it wasn't that hard. Pretty sure though I did have to loosen up the flare a bit. I also don't remember having any trouble with the bolts. Busting off rusted bolts and then dealing with the aftermath is not something I tend to forget.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
...and never washed underneath in the winter. Leave the shyte on there and this is the result.

    Just some stuff...
This is the part number I used for my 2008 dclb 65671-04050. If I remember correctly I had to spray some pb blaster on it a day or two before it would budge.

That turns out to be the correct part number confirmed by the dealer, I ordered it today. In the meantime, I decided to try and remove the old one. A day or so ago, I sprayed everything with Seafoam Deep Creep. Today the top bolts came right out, I removed 1 fender flare bolt to access the bottom bolt. That bolt was really rusty, I had to hulk out on it and snap it off. All told, about a 15 minute removal job, way quicker than I had expected.

I can’t say enough about Seafoam Deep Creep, that stuff worked amazingly!

I had my truck frame dealer sprayed, and I had the whole truck undercarriage sprayed with Fluidfilm…. which is garbage BTW. I’m going to spray something in that area when it’s fixed.

I’m told that Woolwax is better, same lanolin base but thicker. My experience with fluid film is that it was a washed off waste.

You guys out west near Pittsburgh get all the snow now! We barely get any snow in south east PA anymore. While I do miss the snow, I definitely don't miss the salt.
I just pressure wash my frame now once a year.
