Sounds good if it is an OEM part then the dealer should calibrate the TSS for free.
That shoots my half baked theory all to hell. It's just crazy how some of us switch out the grill and everything is fine and then others have the issues you have - go figure.

No luck at the local dealer here either. They wanted the truck for 4 hours to do this and were going to charge labor. Absolute ridiculous, gonna try and find some alternatives. So we’re back on with some theories lol.

I have nothing against the PRO grill it's fine - it's just every Taco that changes out their grill goes with a PRO grill so to me it's basically a stock grill.

I never liked the OR grille till I ended up picking up a OR, then it grew on me and I really like it now (though I lost it when Toyota installed the TRD lift)

Scrubbed some tires, and knocked a dent out.
All personal opinion, but I have a 23 OR and I really like the grill over the other ones. It did have to grow on me some, but personally idc about having a big Toyota label across the vehicle and those look kinda cheap (to me!) anyways.

    This and that
I’ve had lots of grills, oem off-road, got a trd lift so it came with the heritage/pro grill, back to the off-road, to an x-trek, now I’m on v2 pro? Anyways. The only time I had an issue was going into the x-trek. Couple hundred miles, I forgotten about the warning light and it had cleared itself. Each time I installed the grill they were at different heights. But the x-trek was kinda sketch, and I had to re do it and change the hardware. It worked though, had it yell at me once after I changed it.

I feel like if I spend five figures on something I shouldn’t have to drive it around advertising the brand for the company. To me that that’s what the pro grill is. If Toyota wanted to pay me to advertise for them I’d be happy to put their name all over it (I’d even put the decals and the emblems back)

Good to know - I have the lift in my garage and am installing it within the month! I'll keep adjusting and playing around with it and hopefully get the same results you did. I'm thinking maybe the computer just needs to run through the code until it realizes there's no malfunction, especially after the hard reset I did the other day. Thanks for your input man, it's greatly appreciated!

Interesting how these grills can be a crap shoot. I have an X-Trek and was concerned about the height since the OR TSS was mounted higher on the grill than te X-trek. On the other hand my truck is higher than stock with a 2" lift and taller tires so . . . . But no I had zero issues with the TSS on my X-Trek grill. What I will say though is I was very very careful when installing the TSS on the X-Trek because I could see that it it could be easily done wrong with the spacers or tightened to much or even bend or break the plastic cover in front. Now add in installing the wire mesh behind the grill and then making sure the grill itself is installed correctly - by that I mean making sure that side to side top to bottom are all snug the same. I still believe the problems occur if the grill is very slightly off one way or another even though visually it is not noticeable not to mention if the TSS is not dead on because the close in radar is going to be way off out at further distances and that is why the huge differences in results.

Do you have a pic of this "of" grille? I'd like to see how it differs from the off road grille (some call it the "or")

The xtrek was tricky. Not a plug and play like the others. It does looks good, I don’t know why I switched it out. I have noticed if the tss unit loosens up, then you’ll get problems. I get some clean the sensor messages here and there, but after the xtrek I had a tss malfunction for a while. Literally I was in the middle of nowhere, when I noticed it was back to normal.
In the real world, I’ve only had the tss activate and tell me to break like 4-5 times.

That's a good thing - it means you are a good driver and not running up behind traffic too fast. The only thing that is annoying about TSS is on the Interstate if someone ahead is getting off on the exit ramp the TSS slows you down even though they are no longer ahead of you and you normally wouldn't need to slow down. The lane departure warning can be annoying but I tell myself that's on me that if I am diligent and stay in my lane and not wonder then it stays off.

Funny you mention that! I read up on it and plugged in so many prompts to ChatGPT to get an answer - to 'recalibrate' the sensor you could take the truck out on a dry day, find a straight road with no obstructions or other cars on it and hit at least 30+MPH for 5-10 minutes. Eventually the ECU and TSS reset and it realizes everything is clear. Sounds like you inadvertently did this!

Prolly in the middle of the night on my way out to “no where”. Some long straights with no one around.
