I’ve owned every single generation Tacoma and now with 3k miles on my MT 4th gen, it’s very safe to say nothing even comes close.

this is the way the truck was supposed to be from the start. I can actually move quickly with the turbo in extreme comfort.

Im personally not sure why the 3rd gen (turd) are holding their value so well when the 4th gen’s are already being marked off 10-12%. People are absolutely insane going for the mini van gear hunting garbage from the 3rd gen.

love everything about my 4th gen and it’s not particularly close

All gens are great. Choose the one you like, encourage others to do the same. We don’t need infighting over stupid shit

What kind of fuel economy do you get in the city? I’m happy with my MT highway MPG (21.5+) but city is much worse than my 3rd gen . I struggle to get 14 MPG in town.

Much like my sentiments but from a bunch of testing I broke 50 years of mostly having manual transmissions and appreciate that small gap between the 7th and 8th gears. A work associate in a different state bought his 2024 within days of my purchase. Like me with Toyota 4x4s back to the 1990s, he also considers it best ever.

Worse than 3rd gen owner harassment and reactionary behavior here is some have a compulsion to tailgate, pass, race to, or race from stop lights around me. They should not do that near bigger climbs or in the mountains because all of a sudden I go by them with the cruise control set while they have engines screaming in pain. Being fair, it is not all of them or even most.

Great that you like your new 4th gen. I like them too. However, there are a large portion of the population that love the 3rd gen. Including me. Sales confirm it was the best selling Tacoma of all time. They must of done something right. Each iteration of our Tacoma's have seen improvements over the years. I'm sure the 4th gen will eventually be coveted too. Reliability is yet to be seen long term tho. Short term, looks encouraging. Just no need for 3rd gen and 4th gen owners to dump all over each other. Quite silly IMO.

You get what you pay for I suppose. And that sucker is ridiculously expensive. Much more than I want or need. Hopefully they stop neutering the SR Auto 4x4 in another year or two so I can get me a more affordable one.

Any 3rd gen vs 4th gen TRD4wdOffRoad automatic tug of wars in 4 low lockers on yet? Who would win? 3rd gen because she has 391s?

I skipped the turd Gen entirely because of the crap powertrain. Everyone I know that owned one hated the engine. And they all sold them because of it.

    Glad I waited.

Gen3 overall was and still is really good. There’s not much room for debate there.

Also true is that Gen4 is a comprehensive improvement over Gen3 and worthy successor, complete with its own current-gen set of flaws. All previous Tacomas bring both unique attributes and stuff we’d like to pull our hair out over. Just wait for the outrage we see over Gen5…

The biggest improvement (other than power) in the 4th gen, and the most underrated, is hidden underneath.

The frame. It’s ridiculously over-engineered and burly compared to all previous iterations.

I cant say that they 3rd gen taco was perfected like the 5th gen 4runner. Only thing I could find wrong with the 5th gen 4runner was the doofy location of the trailer plug under the rear bumper. Having to get on your knees to plug in the trailer wire was all sorts of crazy. They was the main reason I picked up the new 3rd gen instead of one of the last 5th gen 4Rs.

5th gen Hilux FTW! She was my first and will always be the best. Even the bits that progressively fell off.

Yeah I honestly don’t get. People get jealous and talk trash about other trucks in the same model and brand. If a different truck brand owner talked trash about Tacomas in general then all generation owners would stick together and support each other. People are just weird even adults act like children.
