Thats what I thought too until a couple years ago when we went up there to ride and it was awful there too. I apparently picked the one bad week lol

That's a good question. Her bike steers so drastically different than mine, prolly be safer for me to be the backpack. But at same time, not sure she'd be comfortable with that weight on the back yet.

I need to get some more seat time on hers and get used to it, but I just like my bike so much better, hahaha.

Seriously start selling some bikes! Instead they are just suing each other on the board :annoyed:

Someone rang?!? Sorry for the delay was actually working on the super tenere front suspension last night (seals, bushings, fluid freshing up).

Super terene: 2 major generations with the second gen starting in 2014. 2nd gen brought a new dash, cruise control, LED blinkers, ES (electronic suspension) model, clutch basket changes, slight piston design changes, different wind screen bracket for toolless adjustment, rubber isolated handlebar mounts and a few other things. Ideally you get a 2015+ as this was the last year of any major mechanical changes (3rd cam chain tensioner revision). 2014+ is also good as it saw a much better cam chain tensioner vs previous years. ES models get grip heaters standard from 2014 on.

I bought my 2015 ES with 20.5k miles without even thinking about "thats a lot of miles". Bought it sight unseen 1200mi away from home, got there, made sure it had oil and rode it home. Just a hair over 31k now with zero issues and I ride the piss out of it. Many have gone north of 100k on these bikes from all years. I checked the valves when I got it home at 22k miles all in spec, I plan on checking valves at a half interval (12k vs24k) just before my next oil change just to verify things arent moving with how abusive I am on it. A reflash of the ECU is a good thing to do to get rid of some of the on off throttle jerkieness

As far as the ES suspension. I dont change settings all that much but 99% of the time its just me riding with minimal luggage. I got the ES for the heated grips mainly. As far as rebuilding the suspension not many have documented stuff on the rear shock of the ES units, but looking at it, its nothing fancy and definitely serviceable. The front forks are super simple nothing to be scared about there.

I looked on Parts Unlimited and did settle for OEM size which was a lower profile front. But who cares I just want to start riding again.

just a couple of things tbh
oh wow so the 15+ do come with a lot of goodies. is it best to stay away from the older models then? even if they have all that stuff added extra? i did find a 2015 (idk the model) in silver for 8800 with 12k miles on it. the bike looks done up nicely and looks to be in good shape just not sure if that value is accurate with that one or not.

the 2012 doesnt have the oem goodies but it has loads of aftermarket for cheaper just unsure which one would be the better buy i guess.

oh dang that was a long ride home! i did try looking on cycle trader to see what kind of bikes are out there and i found a 14 es in red with 27k miles for 7500(not so sure about that one thou). there is others even farther but trying to not go super far away haha.

I’ve started looking at tuning mine after I saw it helps with the jerkiness as ive been starting time do more off road riding but so far it looks like most of the companies don’t exist any more. Or I just suck at searching.

I think it'd be better to lose half your money and get rid of bikes rather than keep them and let them become a year older and get stuck with them. I'm sure there's more to it than that....just a simple way of me looking at things.

I'm sure the companies that are owed money would rather have half than nothing

No doubt. Definitely gonna be interesting to see how it all unfolds. I know it could happen, but I can't imagine KTM not being picked up by someone and just disappearing. I'm willing to help out and give them threefiddy for a bike :D......................on my next paycheck though............or in payments

I wouldn't even know which one to pick  I don't really see a need to get another DS/ADV bike. The Duke would be a sick bike. There's a lot of bikes out that I would love to have. RE GT and Bear....... Triumph Thruxton and Bobber..... and of course a Ural. Used bikes are too numerous to count......but tops would be a NX650 done in the Camel theme :D

I think I'd need it to be a lot more than 50% off, lol.
