He’s got a point about highway driving. Is your trans a 3 speed or a 4? 3 speed might be screaming pretty good on the highways. But I know you have the trailer so not sure how much of a concern that really is.

makes me wonder if 5.29’s would be overkill for my 35’s

it’s a 4 speed. I’m not super concerned about highway drive ability, but it is a factor for sure. But for longer road trips I’ll be using the trailer, but around town it would be nice to not be at 4000rpm in cruise

4.88’s might be the choice then.

you should ask @tacotunner06. he has an LS, on 35s with 5.29's. The only difference is the 6 speed manual.

I did borrow it for hammers this year, which was rad. I found it to be very sweet in the dirt, but if it was stuck with 4 gears, it would have been super strung out on the road. Even in the dirt you hit 4th pretty frequently. On highway you're always 5th or 6th. He's running a tremec 6060, so you might need to compare the gear ratios between the tr6060 and the 4l80e

I have 4.56 on 37s with my 5.3 but with the 4l60 so first gear is 3.06:1. I love it, geared a little low but that’s what I wanted. Idk how desert trucks are generally geared but I feel like this truck would rip around great if there were a desert within 1200 miles

Smart @WormSquirts! Patts now I’m not telling what you should do but here’s something else that should help. Tremec has the chart with two automatics. Just change the ratio in the gears to match your transmission and you see exactly what you have with different tire sizes and gear ratios. Trust me it’s spot on with my TKX and the Toyota F155. Verified with GPS it’s right on the money!
Oh, when I was trying to figure out ratios I got on a few LS forums and asked what RPM’s worked out the best for fuel economy. I got anywhere between 1700 and 2000 at 75 mph for replies. I tried to get that but I was geared to tall in first gear.

Oh, Remember @tacotunner06 has a Curry 9 inch in the rear of his truck

Redo that side. Lower point on a heim pivot point, upper on a grade 8 quick pin. Easy peasy

Next time I have to open my glovebox I’ll just grind away where the door is interfering :anonymous:

but that is a very smart idea.

    If I had a dollar……

    IMG_4952.png

Tcase shifter bolts were never tightened when the trans and tcase were reinstalled. Truck is currently stuck in 4WD. Gotta go buy new hardware and figure out where it needs to be tightened down at…. God so frustrating.

might as well have done it myself.

Interior is looking great and it's all starting to come together. I forget and am lazy to look back, which transfer case are you using? Is it still the NP261HD? On that note, quick suggestion for lazy bastards like myself: lots of build threads summarize the build in the first post for easy reference with a spec sheet, including a "before" shot and an "after" or "current" shot. I'm sure you're not busy or anything (lol) but perhaps something to add. Cheers!
